Yet another Back Hoe Re-Install Question and Comment

Yup, beaten to death but... a little different. BX25D BH taken off in cooler weather, set on a Dolly. Had the locks in, the stabilizers cinched with a ratchet tie down. Was sure to bled off the pressure. Went to re-install. Hydraulics not connecting.OK, I read the drill about tapping the center...

    Air Compressor

I need (want) a new air compressor. Old noisy as hell Sears 20 gallon will stay in the garage at the house. Wife uses it, car tires, when it dies, I'll wing it. New building, I want a quieter one (75dB or less), ideally 175psi and around 10 CFM @ 90 PSI.. Building will be plumbed and the...

    Dooh! day

'Saw' a tree had died, leaning against another and from the house, it looked like it might hit the fence, so I went out to slice and dice. Got to it, 30" base (roots rotted/nonexistent), not going to hit the fence.Things from the house look closer than they are (like a car mirror). Well, I'm...

    Home Fire Alarm

I'm putting in heat (not smoke) detectors in my outbuilding. I have an external strobe/siren wired in. I think I have is right but I want to test. As I understand it, taking a 9V battery, the positive to the red (of the hardwire three wire) and the battery negative to the black, wired to 120V...

BXExpanded BH Dolly for BX25D Tractor

I finally bought one, now that I have a concrete floor and not mud. As always, BXExpanded shipped quickly and complete. I have the underbelly pan, quick on forks and now this dolly. I wanted a PDF file of the instructions, emailed and withing the hour, got a pdf file. Kudos BXExpanded! The BH...

Interesting Observation - Fact or Fiction

For 10 years, my little BX lived in a tent. Soaked with humidity. Covered with pollen. I finally built a top tier shop. Nice and dry (no hvac....yet) real lighting, even WiFi. Still gets cold. But, it appears the tractor starts better and does not spew a little soot on start. When I built the...

    Broken BX25D Quick Attach

Fixing the driveway today after yesterdays storm. Scooping buckets of gravel to fill the wash-out. The bucket will not curl!!! What the heck??? The Quick attach weld failed. Note the lack of penetration. Removed the quick attach, places the bucket right on the loadrer and finished the job.

Considering an addition to the family

This is premature, a year or more out but I am thinking.... Time to retire my 23+ year old Craftsman garden tractor. While it runs fine, it is 23+ years old and will not always be the case. One more similar sized machine should last me to when I go to the 'old folks home'. Looking at current...

    BX25D Glow Plugs

My little guy does not start readily even doing 20 'Mississippis'. I need to test the glowplugs. Anyopne got the ohms I should be reading at the plug? I assume full battery voltage is also expected. Thanks!

    Tire Valve Stems

I'm thinking about replacing my rubber valve stems with metal. After a little research, it seems there are many types and it is not a simple matter of 'one size fits all'. Anyone know what specs I need to follow? Going on my little BX25D BTW, I looked and did not see what diameter hole or rim...

    Had a flat!!!

My BX25D has stupid short sidewalls. Today, I was picking up a 500 pound oak log. As I was backing up, I noticed the left front was flat! I dropped the log and gingerly drove back to the house. I saw marks in the gravel from the storage shed so the tire had to be flat when I pulled it out. I'd...

    Sunk in the Muck Today

Thought I'd give y'all a laugh at my expense. Still a little clean up after the storm of 01/04/2022 here. One birch had lost a major branch that did not fully separate from the tree. It was (in summer) more than 1/2 of the leaves. I looped a rope on it, pulled with my BX. Nope, nope going to...

    Warranty Email Scam

I just got this email, obvious scam. Note the 'from' email address and the name of the customer, not me, as well as a model I do not own. Do not let the scammer scam you. Not sure how they got my email address, not that it matters unles OTT was breached.

Power Service Diesel Conditioner Mix Ratio

As I read it (and I apologize in advance) it is one ounce pf Power Service to 10 US gallons of fuel. I have a four gallon can so I'd add .4 ounces (11.8 ML) to the four gallon can. What is I went to say, 1/2 ounce per four gallons? Nothing bad I assume, just wasting treatment? What is the...

    BX25D wiring

I was thinking about adding a voltmeter to my little guy. Of course, I want it to operate only then the tractor key is on and have it fed from a fused source. I was looking at the wiring to the fuse box. There are two wires leaving it, Red with Yellow stripes for work lights (that I do not...

    BX25D Battery

Either It does not exist (or I'm an idiot-probably the latter) I found no information here regarding the little BX25D battery. Mine is going to be four (I think) this year and it is obvious, the battery is loosing its' gusto. At rest voltage is 12.36. It still starts every time but, it is tired...

    BX25D Fan Belt

Twice in the last year, I've had to tighten the belt on my little guy. I suspect it is wearing out or simply going bad. It has been loose enough where I could grab the cooling fan (yes, engine off!) and easily move it. I've not had any belt squeal or battery charging issues though. But, I think...

BX25D Changing HST and Front Axle

First time doing these fluids. I'd changed the HST filter back at 50 hours. 155 hours now and 2.5 years. I felt it was wise to change the HST and front axle. I took the bucket (Quick release) and BH off to make it less cumbersome. I also remove the BXExpanded skidplate. I cleaned off all areas...

    Made it to 1,000 hours!

My Sears Craftsman garden tractor with a HST and a 22Hp Kohler Commnad V twin has made it past 1,000 hours. Engine, I replaced the oil seal on the flywheel side at about 800 hours. Spark plugs, oil, air, oil, filters and minor adjustments. One out of ten cold starts, it burns blue smoke for the...

    Changing BX25D Trans fluid

Time is near! So I am 'prepping'. My drain pan barely holds two gallons, I'll be getting 3+ of course. Anyone had a similar issue? Do I just remove the drain bolt, when my pan is 'full enough' do I stem the flow and screw the bolt in and drain my pan then drain the rest? I've never changed this...
