Ever try to buy a snowblower during a blizzard?
Not a snowblower but we bought a pickup sander in the middle of a severe ice storm once.

I'll stick with my back blade for now. Been working good so far. As screwed up as the weather service folks guessing whats coming, I'll bet we will get the norm from past few years, which isn't much.

We paid the same price that we would have paid in June for it. At that time we were averaging $250,00-300,000+per year in purchases from that dealer, because they were for John Deere, New Holland, De Laval milking equipment and many other short line ag equipment.

OP, if you have a wide enough driveway and shallow wider ditching? Blade works just fine unless you routinely get dumped on.

Last couple winters low amount of snowfall here on the south shore of the western end of L. Superior.

Winter of "23-24 I left the blower on the pallet. Blade and bucket worked fine. Snowbanks never really built up to a point where blading snow into the ditches was an issue. Don't remember one heavy Lake Effect snowfall. Well casing top is 18" above grade. It never stayed fully under snow cover that winter. Too many "January thaws" every month of the winter. IIRC, max snowpack was only couple feet. Hard as rock snowpack.

Last winter I thought maybe the same. Just took one moderate dump to make using the blade a bit useless. Needed to cut the banks down using the blower or be limited to a very narrow driveway. That would guarantee a +30" lake effect dump.

This winter. Attach the snowblower in November to ensure no snowfall until mid December. Remove mid-December to ensure a White Christmas.

One time I bought a 3 point 5' used snow blower in mid July... For cheap...
Had plenty of time to give it some attention before winter.. It served well..

If I can find a real good deal on a 3 point snow blower, may get one for that one in every 5 years 5 foot blast.

I don't have the 3rd function valve so right there is an extra $$$ if I got a front mount SB. Not to mention if I did have 3rd fcnt I'd be buying all kinds of front attachments that would stress my harmonious home life. Adding up the cost of the 3rd function, mounting hardware, blower unit = way out of my budget.

Rear mount blowers are more budget friendly but still not cheap, at least relative to my situation.

So I fabricated an FEL mounted blade. Worked well but was way out in front and too bouncy. Didn't want to beat up the bucket or loader arms. So I mounted the blade to an SSQA plate, works great, quick on / quick off when I need to move snow banks with the FEL. The blade moves a lot more snow than I thought it would and not bouncy at all.

Now I can afford the soft cab I've eyeballing.

Put a 6 foot blade on your 3 point, turn it backwards, then adjust the top link until it’s about straight up n down. Has worked great for me. Doesn’t dig into the ground. Can turn it around when the ground is frozen solid. What soft cab are you looking at?

Never owned one for the tractor. Found a good deal on a 3 point snow blower. My question is, are there some king of shoes to lift it so I don’t pick up gravel in my driveway? Or is there an adjustment to leave 1/2 inch on the ground? When I had my walk behind snow blower, could adjust the bottom plate to leave a half inch on the ground. It’s a land pride SB1051. Also, is the PTO shaft telescopic or required to cut to length? Thanks.
I do not see any indication as to how long or large your driveway is. If it is around the 200 foot size and I had issues turning around due to back issues I would be looking at a larger walk behind for the rare times that we had a significant snow fall. They are available with heated handles, steering assist and snow canopy's.

I had the largest cub cadet snow blower with all the bells and whistles. It did good but my old arse was getting to tired. Plus it was picking up to much of my class II. My back blade is working fairly well but haven’t had super heavy snow to test its capabilities yet.

Search the threads. Someone posted I believe it was a huskvarna snow cab was a good fit. Didn’t cost much either. If I find it, will post it as I’m wanting one.

Thanks for the info...however...
Read the reviews on the husky. Lightweight frame, too short, mesh openings, poor window material, etc.
Looks like you get what you pay for in this case.
Back in 2012 I searched for a reasonably priced cab for the (then) new L3200. Even soft cabs got pricey fast because everything to make them nice was optional. Real glass, a heater and a wiper were desired. I ended up making my own. It cost me around $1,200 and 150 hours of sweat equity.
