I have had PO 101 blinking for some time now.
When I check the owners manual, it has no such
code. When I google it I come up with MAF or Mass
air flow sensor and it is a fairly generic code across
numerous cars. It states that the number 1 cause
is a dirty MAF and it needs to be cleaned with MAF
cleaner. Does anyone have any experience with
this and is this something I can do. Do I need MAF
cleaner or is there something else I can use.

You pretty much need your dealer for the p codes. They are similar but not necessarily the same as the obd codes for cars. Many require attaching to kubota laptop to clear. Sorry can't help more.:(

I finally broke down and called the dealer. I really really
don't like talking on the phone. The technician said clean
the filters 1st, if that doesn't work to check the wires on
the air flow sensor which is just downstream of the filters
after a brace. He had never heard of cleaning it which is
what I find they do on cars. I'll let you know how it turns
out. I'm back in town and won't be at my cabin for a day or 2.

I removed the MAF sensor and sprayed it with MAF cleaner following directions.
I let it dry very well, reinstalled it and I still have a blinking PO 101 code.
Can anyone give me any guidance other than replacing it.

Take the neg lead off the battery for 20 minutes....replace - and see if code is still there. ON a car/truck this will reset the computer - if the code goes away - it could still come back on.....then again, it might be the problem you fixed!:)

I did as you suggested, but, the code came right back.
I guess what I find confusing is that the tractor starts
And runs just fine, I suppose that's why I ignored it
As long as I did. Is there a way a kobota tech can check
The unit without taking the whole tractor in??

Tech can bring a laptop loaded with the software to your place, should not be a problem if the dealer has the means to do so. He's gonna charge you a service call and probably labor, but may or may not be able to fix it on site. On-site service is not covered under Kubota warranty unfortunately.

The software is proprietary and is the only way to diagnose these things. Just like cars were for a few years; and to an extent still are. There are codes with cars that don't pop up on a generic code reader, so they still need dealer action. This is done to protect consumers from themselves so to speak.

I recently had the same issue on my Chevy truck. Check wallet light came on, read the code, MAF fault. Truck ran fine, reset the fault. Then it started coming on more often. The whole time the truck ran fine. Pulled the sensor, looked clean. Replaced it and no check wallet light since. I think the code said implausible values detected.

What did a new one cost just for a ballpark value. I realize a tractor will probably be twice as much. I try to find prices on line but donot have much luck.

MAF sensor $80.00 includes $50.00 core. Bottom line $30.00.

I emailed Messicks about the MAF and they stated $269.00 and nothing about a core charge. I emailed them back asking about a core charge. I'll call the kubota dealer here in a little bit and see what they have to say. Thanks for the help

Kubota wanted $314.00 and no core charge, I can live with twice to 3 times as much but with my fuzzy math I get 10 times as much as Newlyme stated his MAF for his truck cost. I could get a tech out here and chances are he would charge me $300.00 to tell me I need to change out the $300.00 part. I'll keep you informed.

PO 101 is "intake air volume low" check for reasons that might be so, (possibly intake hose off or loose) It is not likely a failed sensor but more likely a sensor doing it's job.

In browsing through you tube I came upon 1 on how to check the MAF. It stated to have your car running and then unplug the MAF, if the car dies then the MAF is fine. I did this with my tractor and the tractor continued to run. Since it was on the internet it has to be true right???
There are no loose hoses, the filters are new and they are clean. The tractor appears to run fine. I would hate to be shortening the life of my Turbo.

Make double sure the intake air hose is on the inlet to the turbo properly and tightened securely. We have had a few of those come off! There was a changeup on that hose on L60 tractors to correct the problem but a few MX tractors had the hose come off too.
