You will be happy to know that the wholesale price of that tank today is over $5k
They are already higher than that here locally. I paid 4k 1 year ago and that was a contracted price from 6 months prior. They were already selling the next batch at 5k. šŸ˜³

Just ordered 300 gallons of Propane at $2.40 and was happy with the price! Fortunately I have a $500 credit from the sale of my 150 gallon tank.

If anyone has any extra tanks - you will likely get stupid money for them.

Stove gave me a hard time starting last year. Circuit board changed fixed it.

No issue this year! :D I do notice the flame guard isnā€™t seated properly. Fix that after the test fire.

First test fire, and Geddy missed it as he was nappingā€¦.

Didnā€™t take long for him to figure out this is something I might like a lot.

What did you pay, if you donā€™t mind me asking?

I saw $305 at Tractor Supply yesterday. Hardwood blend, which is fine for a Harman stove.

Have you looked into the Place in Deposit, NY @RT8 &17 that makes them, New England? Don't know if they sell retail there or not, these days who knows.

$5.59/bag. Price was $5.79 - $.20 / bag for bulk discount. I've never used this brand before but the bag says premium.

Final winter prep for us. Re-programmed the thermostats. A little cooler at night than last winter,

My wife is so hot that we don't need heat in the winter!
Ditto. However, I learned a long time ago that the warmer the room, the fewer layers of clothes she has on. ;)

I haven't. Think it is New England, which I've burned several years.

Seems like they have another place more your direction too. Utica area?

Haven't seen any up here, but most of the wood chips come from up this way that they use down your way. I know a guy who was hauling, don't know if he's still doing it?

I remember a ā€œscragā€ mill in Deposit 30+ years ago. I did a couple timber sales that sent some wood that way. Think was an OSB mill then, but it was 30+ years agoā€¦

Iā€™m almost 100% sure youā€™re right about a New England mill down there now. Donā€™t know if same facility I recall.

As soon as leaves are down, I finish mulching them. Then the tractor starts itā€™s seasonal conversion to snow modeā€¦.might have a little loader work to do in the interim.

Maybe a week awayā€¦..

Changed the oil in the snowblower gearbox last night.

I am surrounded by oaks and the B with plow blade is needed almost daily as we try to move leaves. The hand held blower will only move so much and I need to plow the pile into the woods.
The black mulch from decades of rotting leaves is pretty impressive. It does take 4wd once you sink a couple inches down.

I figure 135 days of heating season after New Year's. Gets us to May 15, which is not far-fetched. 105 days left.....

Finished first big stack of pellets today. This brand has been good.

2 tons gone, 3 left. I think/hope I'm good for the season. Few years ago average temperature for February was 9F..... šŸ„¶šŸ„¶

Every blizzard I remember has been March.....ā„ā„ā„ā˜ƒ

I usually pull snowblower off late-March or early-April.

We gave up heating with wood two years ago when we had new furnace/AC installed. Contract propane price in Aug was $1.95. We probably have enough, but I checked last week to see what additional fuel would cost if needed. Was told twenty cents under market price (day of delivery), but not below $2.08. That's pretty simple, and inexpensive heat for us compared to cutting or buying firewood.

Yea our new house is all propane heat, I liked the pellet stove, it worked well, but it simply cost us more to heat than using propane.
And with the propane it's all automatic and very, very, little maintenance.

And with the system we have now (Hydronic heated floors) there isn't a cold spot in the house or the garage, and it's all thermostat controlled.

The new shop will have Hydronic heated floors, but I think I'll be using the Pellet stove in it for quick heat, like thawing a frozen tractor.

We gave up the pellet stove and switched to a propane-fired boiler with 2 hydronic air handlers. I wanted to put heat under the floors, but the wife didn't want to spend the money. Last year she said the floors weren't cold, but now she is admitting that they are, and we should have done it before we put the hardwood flooring down. Now it is going to be installed from underneath between the joists, not as efficient, but it should make the floors warm.
