I know the reason I'm breaking them is because I lean the spout on the tank. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

I use a hand siphon hose that came with an old kerosene heater to fill my 3800 out of a 5 gallon can. Set the can on the seat or the hood fill it from there. No more mess all over the hood or trying to hold the 5 gallons of fuel up to fill the tractor.

I've never cracked one by leaning it on the spout, but I have done it exactly like that by over-tightening the clamping nut.

Im an old guy. I got a mr funnel and no longer use the spout. Just pour it in. Much quicker, cleaner, and filters the fuel.

"No-spill" yellow 5 gal container with handles top and back.

It will sit on top of the L3800 and works like a charm.

I hate those new spouts. I throw them away and use a funnel.

I have the same fuel container that Sheepfarmer referenced, and I really like it except for holding down the button while filling the tractor. I solved this issue by installing a cam to hold down the button. Now I set it on top of the hood, flip the cam and just keep and eye on it until empty.

Love my VP racing high flow cans. I even drilled the top off one and tapped in the next bigger size hose barb.

Also use a shake siphon on some pcs of equipment. Set the can down at a level higher than the fill hole, shake the siphon and watch it drain.... a little slower, but you don't have to hold the can.....

Yooper where did you get the cam? Can it be adjusted so flow not too fast?
