Said I was from Stockton, Medesto, Tuscon. Never been to either city.

colloquialisms certainly do identify where you are from. If I were to ask you where the bubbler is, could you tell me? That particular colloquialism is peculiar to just one major city. Can you tell me which one?

Never lived in Tucson, but split my childhood between Milwaukee (actually 17mi north of Milwaukee) & Phoenix.

I confused 'em!

Born and raised in Michigan, spent a fair bit of time in SC and FL while in the service and currently live in Maine.

I picked up a number of what I consider "southernisms" like "fixing to" and "all y'all" and use them mix-and-match with New England Yankee-isms like "wicked", "ayuh", "I guess probably" and "I shouldn't wonder" in my flat midwestern accent and throw in the odd Michigan/German cussin' fit. Much more likely to declare "horse****" than "bull****" for instance.

The quiz pinned me in the one area of the US I have absolutely no connection with: The west coast.

Not to far from where I have lived in Toledo Oh, Terra Haute In, Bay City Mi and Grayling Mi. Here is a question that could really place people, but I will direct it to skeets: Where would you order a shell of Guinness? Hint it is one of the cities above.

We have Nefies, Acadians, Acadian Nefies, French Canadians, Upper Canadians, Lower Canadians, Metis French and Cree, Metis French and Ukrainian and every other languages mixed with and French or English. Then you move to the lower mainland (Vancouver) which become Mandarin ,Punjabi and Hippy on Vancouver Island.

Dare you to map that! Eh.

It got both of us spot on.

Wife got Philly,PA , Newark,NJ , Yonkers,NY: She's from 10 miles east of Philly on the Jersey side.
I got Denver,CO , Aurora,CO , Glendale, AZ: Grew up and spent 19 Years 45 miles north of Aurora, and then 4 years in Glendale and 21 years in the Phoenix area!

Interesting. I didn't try it, because I believe the results would be misleading. I have profound hearing loss (stone deaf, both ears) since birth yet I've been taught how to speak throughout public school, enough to a point where others think I immigrated from Europe.

One time during my travels at an airport, I had a guy come up to me who confessed that he was eavesdropping in my conversation with a colleague. He said that he has a knack for identifying what part of the world his subjects were (as a hobby) but was very frustrated that he couldn't pin me to a location and was desperate to know where I was from. I thought it was amusing.

I grew up in south-west Ontario, about 30 miles from Detroit, and have lived near Toronto since 1969.
It pegged me at Detroit, Buffalo and upstate NY.
