I just picked up a set of these rears for the BX

honestly didn't look up prices...
but my gut said it was a good price... ?

anyway, I wanted a set of spares anyway... especially the rims..... mine (2017) were filled with salt water from the dealer....
which I'm not crazy about.

so, Did I do ok on price?
$150.00 a set.

.

that salt will take YEARS to corrode the rims - like maybe 30+.

It was the defacto standard way back - heavy but has its drawbacks. Windshield washer fluid is "cheap" - beat juice heavier and $$$ but great stuff!

When I first got the tractor I had no idea they were filled at all.... I used a digital tire gauge to check pressure... and immediately destroyed it.
oh well.

now I just kick em.... :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Weight difference considered, windshield washer fluid is the best $ VALUE!

I don’t know why ordinary Prestone antifreeze solution can‘t be used. The only reason plain water isn’t suitable is in areas where freezing is possible….and that would require temps below 28F to freeze water in a tire.

That is 1000% a BAD idea!
The reason you don't use conventional antifreeze is it's toxic to everything.
If you get a leak in a field, your contaminating the field.
The person dealing with tire repair / replacement has to deal with that mess.
There are probably about a thousand other reasons you should use it!

Exactly correct!

Yes, antifreeze is toxic to soil. Antifreeze contains several additives, such as ethylene glycol, that are toxic to humans, animals, and plants. If antifreeze is spilled on the ground, it can easily seep into the soil and contaminate it with toxins.

The ethylene glycol in antifreeze is especially harmful to soil microorganisms and microflora, which can have damaging effects on the soil’s overall health. Furthermore, groundwater supply can become contaminated if the antifreeze reaches it.

To ensure that your soil does not become contaminated, you should clean up any antifreeze spills immediately. Additionally, if you are disposing of antifreeze, make sure to do it in an appropriate manner that does not pose a threat to the environment.

the other BAD thing about antifreeze is that animals( your dog, neighbour's cat) LOVE the taste and it'll kill them....
I'd leave some out for the *^*&^%&* RED squirrels if I could though....

BX rear tire/rim $350, tire only $500 so you did GREAT !
as for weight, add wheel weights, more weight, less toxic. EASIER to deal with overall

How about RV antifreeze, you know the stuff you put in the water systems for an RV, or windshield washer stuff, that shouldnt be bad

RV antifreeze is fine, is very slightly heavier than WW fluid, but it is not as cheap.

Anyway.... For some reason they get more Rear sets (take-offs) for sale than fronts.... Or the fronts sell quicker... who knows...

I said the Hay with it and bought a set of new R4 fronts from the dealer..... they were $180.00 before tax..... cheaper than Messicks and local.... so I call it a win.

gonna be a week before they come in.

probably run the R4's in the off months (winter) and the turf tars in the summer when I'm using the mid mower....

I might look into filling the R4's ....... seems like all the cool kids are using beet juice..... I need to see if thats something I can do in the garage after a few beers.... Or if it's a pay 2 play deal.

I finally figured out where " From under a rock" is located. I picked up 2 sets from them 2 weeks ago. Was the $180 for the front tires each or the pair? I will be picking up a couple more pairs soon for some friends.
