I have a BX 1500 approximately 12 to13 years old hour meter is busted. But mainly only used for mowing a 2-acre yard. I was pulling the leaf catcher behind the tractor the motor blew out black smoke and power loss. I shut it down let it cool off and now it will not start I did remove the air filter it is a little dirty but not too terribly bad

I replaced both filters last year..
I mowed the yard in the slow turtle gear
But put it up into rabbit and pedal down so grass catcher would throw grass into catcher

Change fuel filters and air filter or filters some models have 2, and treat fuel for contaminates like water or algae. ;)

I changed 2 fuel filter and air filter. Checked at front filter and fuel is pumping through. Still not starting. A small amount of black smoke blows out while it cranks

Re: 12 yrs old bx1500 black smoke won't start

Thanks darren....I loosened injectors and cranked engine until I saw fuel coming out
I will drain fuel and put in new fuel to try and eliminate the fuel issue
Thank you

Re: 12 yrs old bx1500 black smoke won't start

So you have no answer but a smart mouth
Not a smart mouth. People were helping you to try and narrow down the issue. Was just curious why you started a new thread after replying to the thread you had already started on the same issue ;)

Now, you have already ruled out fuel filters and flow issues. So, your looking at either compression which is unlikely since it was running but then wouldn't start back up.

So, it could be electrical. Fuel solenoid not working correctly. Power dropping when key is turned to start position to fuel solenoid or shut down circuit. Bad/ blown fuse, bad connection in the wiring. Burned or chewed wire. Corrosion in a quick connect. Water in a quick connect. Bad key switch, bad relay, ect....

Could be an issue with your injection pump. Could have had the governor spring pop loose not allowing fuel rail to return to start position.

Bad fuel (gas or water)

Stuck valve, bad injector.

The more details you can give, the better someone can help you out ;)

Sounds like you really don't want any help from the helpful people on this forum. If you are going to insult people on this forum, you might be better off calling your local dealer for help.

This bx's have had quite a few issues reported with the fuel sending units rusting inside the fuel tank. The rust ends up clogging up the fuel system.

Your issue could be just a matter of having to clean out the fuel tank. Then fresh fuel and filters

I have found a bare wire going to the glow plugs
It's not frayed or anything just looks like covering has been either rubbed off or melted.
Could an issue with the glow plugs cause the black smoke

Once engine is at or close to operating temp glow plugs have no affect on color of smoke and GP's should then remain off until next start cycle
