I gotta get better friends and neighbors.

one of my neighbors owns 4 Ferrari's. One is a LaFerrari (or however it's spelt), a Portofino, One Stradale, and an older (I say older, like 4 years old), GTB I think it is. We don't really associate much as he's in a completely different world than I. I make old iron new. He makes new plastic an carbon fiber, old. We are opposites but we do both appreciate automotive artwork.

And yes he drives all 4 of them regularly. I don't know how. The deer are everywhere out here along the highway. There's one standing in the front yard now. It's momma probably ain't far away but I can't see very well. Every once in a while I'll hear him "get on it" and if you've heard a flat plane V8 Ferrari exhaust note at full tilt, you know. It's a completely different sound than my Mustang makes which is also a V8. Exotic sound vs American, as some say. On that "note", years back I wanted that sound so I made a set of 180 degree headers for my other Mustang (or one of them), which basically you join 2 cylinders' header tubes to teh opposite bank's collector, such that the firing order in each header collector is paired with cylinders that fire exactly 180 degrees apart from each other in succession. On a 2 valve American V8, it still doesn't sound exotic. It sounds kinda like a pair of old school VW flat 4 cylinder engines arguing with each other. I did it to be different and got a lot of weird looks when the thing was running but after a while it got old and I went back to the traditional 4-1 header for each bank, as it was much easier to deal with as far as maintenance.

Years (many) ago when I was a kid in high school I worked at a gas station, the guy that owned it ran a stock car. It was powered by a big block Chevy with a set of 180° headers, the exits came out in the middle of what was passengers side door. It's a sound I'll never forget.

I think the Voodoo engine the GT350R is flat crank V8.

I think the Voodoo engine the GT350R is flat crank V8.

It is. Rumored that the new Vette's will also be but I ain't seen any reliable sources to confirm yet.

So the question is, why is a flat plane crank used on a car of that caliber?

Torque management. The same reason the Yamaha R1 used a cross-plane crankshaft in a 1.0L inline 4 cylinder. It changes inertial torque. In a nutshell, the torque is actually reduced a little but in doing so it becomes much more manageable by the driver, which equates better lap times.

This one has no car pics....sorry guys.... ;)

We undertook a major facade renovation this fall. It's also part of a Museum District Improvement to fix sidewalks, streets, and street lighting.

Daren saw our place in-person a couple years ago. Was a former factory. Our lobby was a former electrical supply.

Some people thought our lobby was the entire Museum. We have 2-4 cars in the lobby. It's actually about half a city block, not including our summer parking lots....

We were 1 building and 45 cars in 1997.

Now, we're 5 connected buildings and about 170 or so cars. About 90,000 square feet. This front addition might get us to 2 acres under roof.

Our project is separate, but coincides well with the 2-blocks of community-supported street-side improvements by design. Good community projects happening at the same time.

This will be a patio area just outside the entrance. Good spot for food trucks and outdoor activity such as car clubs, cruise-ins, etc. I'm standing in the indoor seating area of a small coffee shop.

I'm standing in the new parking lot we did this year across the street.

Nice fencing, lighting, etc.

It will look like an old car dealership showroom. This will be the "showroom." Couple cars to the left, a car on a turntable behind the soon-to be curved glass on the right.

To the right of that will be 2 "service bays" behind 2 glass overhead doors.

8F72A3B6-416B-4D5D-AEFA-E2DC2E3C9267.jpeg

You can just see the circular recess the turntable will go in.

There's the rough framing for the "service bay" overheads. The man door will go away when the OHD goes in.

Been quite a while for this thread.

We endeavored into a major overhaul of the museum’s façade. Pictures in post before this shows early work. Came out very well.

Not smart enough to do a fancy panoramic picture, so it’s two parts.

East half of the façade. Note the old style gas pumps

DEAFC3E6-30F1-41A6-8546-4DA401F09F56.jpeg

West part. At 90,000 square feet, Place takes up most of the small block, so this area is only half the frontage of interconnected buildings.

If you zoom in, there’s a nice’57 Chevy convertible in the showroom window, and the turntable is directly in front of the Chevy.

I know y'all like to show off your pretty nice stuff. And I respect every bit of that.

Mine are not nice. I enjoy doing the work, or did. I ain't doing nearly as much anymore.

latest "project"--which will probably end up selling or trading. Guy wants to trade me a '54 Ford Customline which I may take up that offer. 89 GT, one of 804 in that color. Been sitting for years.

I'm with ya.. I like working deals on wheels, Or whatever..

That GT would be a fun one to build but that 54 Ford would be even better!

have done several of the mustangs. Kind of burned out on them. So looking at doing something entirely different. Brother has a '55 Custom, came out nice. Dad has a '51 F-2, 100% original including the 8BA, although it's in dire need of an overhaul as it's getting very weak-and really hard to start. Lots of blowby. He says he wants to do it, but time's running out. I told him I would pull it and put it on a stand but I don't think he's really too serious about it at his age-- And I can't blame him.

This is my keeper. Small enough to fit into the garage, and interesting enough to show how far ambulances have come in 60 years. All numbers matching, and it can keep up with traffic on the highway.

This is so cool.. this is what my brother n law use to haul his then girlfriend "my sister" and all her siblings (6) to the drive-ins. This was around 1970 and I was thinking it was a 63.. same color and I know it had a 3 speed on the column because I remember him teaching her how to drive it. Never forget that thing lug chugging around the neighborhood! Good memories, Bruce Lee movies were a favorite!

Did some car moving this morning. Moved maybe 20 or 25. Didn’t get much for pictures except these three.

Skeets - my apologies for not getting pictures of a couple Challengers in same area. It’s pretty special to see two genuine Shelby’s in one place. The AMX was next to them. They’re all leaving the Pony Car exhibit in the next few days.

The Shelby’s are owned by the same person. The 500 was leaking gas from the carb bowl big time. Tightened the bolts on it and it shut the leak off. He was driving it back home.
