    L175 clutch not releasing

The clutch needed adjustment. It has been a few decades since I had to adjust mechanical clutch linkage. Ten minute job, with at least half of that finding a screwdriver.

    L175 clutch not releasing

Out today mowing with my L175/Woods l59 and the clutch started acting up. Occasionally, but not always, not releasing. It worked fine yesterday. No undue sounds when stepping on the pedal. Normal effort on the pedal. It did it if the PTO was engaged or not. Stepping on the brake (pretty hard)...

    L175 gaining oil, losing fuel

That's what I figured. Unfortunately I really don't want to spend my almost nonexistent $6-700 on a new injection pump. At least I know the fuel shut offs location and that it works, or did, from when I had to rebuild the steering box a few years ago. I think I will try changing the oil and...

    L175 gaining oil, losing fuel

Went to start the L175 today for some dreaded yard maintenance, picking up limbs and then mowing. Did not happen. When I checked the oil, it was about an inch and a half higher than it was when I last used the tractor:confused:, (2-3 weeks ago). I immediately thought uh oh, cracked head; but...

    Van Sickle spray paint

I used it for the front of a riding lawns mower deck repair. Didn't cover very well, and it seemed like it wanted to run badly. Honestly, I think the $.99 Walmart paint does a better job. Of course the $.99 Walmart paint probably costs around $2.00 now... On the other hand, about eight years...

    hydraulics

So ugly that when he was little his momma had to tie a pork chop around his neck, just to get the dog to play with him. Man it is too early in the winter for cabin fever to be setting in already. Robert

    3 Point Problem

I don't like those I T manuals. I bought one for my WD and found several things that were flat out wrong, so I haven't bought one for he Kubota. I do however have a .pdf file of a parts manual for the L175. It doesn't have the best diagrams, but it does give me some idea as to how things go...

    Re-using Tire Ballast, Possible?

There have been a lot of different liquids used for in tire ballast over the years. Ranging from plain water (better hope it doesn't freeze if you use that) to windshield washer anti-freeze. Foam is used for weight in a lot of construction equipment such as skid steers. One of the most common...

fuel additives or more needed for winter

As long as your fuel isn't gelled, AND YOU HAVE A GOOD BATTERY, neither bearskinner or Humblebug should have any problems starting their tractors. I am not a fan of magnetic heaters, I would much prefer to have some sort of coolant heater. Either the freeze plug type or one that goes in the...

New winter project: Rebuilding the steering box, again.

Thanks Russell, I'll try that tomorrow; I think it is still supposed warm(ish). I don't remember the adjustment making much if any difference as I was putting everything back together; but if it keeps me from taking it off again I will try it. I had forgotten about Vic's articles and video...

New winter project: Rebuilding the steering box, again.

While winterizing my equipment and vehicles today, I found a Winter project that I am not very happy about for my L175. I had to add some anti-freeze to get the freeze point low enough, so I decided to run it down the gravel road to my neighbors to get it warm and circulating to mix well. Big...

    Anti scalp wheels

Drilling and crossdrilling the axles for the anti-scalp wheels will work, in theory. In real life??? What is the diameter of the anti-scalp wheel axle? You will weaken it by drilling the center out for the grease passage. I have seen bolts (5/8" diameter IIRC) meant for leaf spring hangers...

Kubota L175 PTO stops under load...

Bigboy, sounds to me like something is wrong with your shifters or shift forks. I would start by taking the shifters off and taking a look at the forks and sliding gears in the transmission. Might be a very expensive fix, or it might be a simple adjustment. Good Luck, Robert

    Broken Steering Wheel

The QuickSteel putty worked, it is at least as solid as the steering wheel has been since I owned the tractor. The real test will be when I have to mow the lawn in another four or five days. I have a lot of trees to go around. Robert

    Broken Steering Wheel

Thanks guys, I could not remember Weaver's name. Right now I am trying a variation of CaveCreekRay's repair; I am waiting on the QuickSteel putty to cure. If it works, fine. If not I will be exploring other options. Robert

    Broken Steering Wheel

While getting on my tractor (L175) today, the center of the steering wheel broke. The spokes came loose from the center hub. I can still steer the tractor, but I forsee a new one in the very near future. I have called a couple of salvage yards that are relatively close with no luck...

    L175 steering box rebuild

It has been a few years since I rebuilt mine, but I think there is an adjustment screw on the right side of the gearbox. Frankly, I don't remember it making much difference on mine. The only bushing that I can remember is a rubber one at the top of the steering column. Robert
