I have mine currently mounted to the ROPS with this mount. branches and brush keep pulling the pin for me. I’d like a more solid mount near the seat. Moose

    Trailer Brakes Getting Hot

How hot do your trailer brakes get? I recently replaced my brake controller in my Tundra. The factory controller is known for its problems. I’ve been trying to find the right setting. Ive been trying to set it so the trailer will stop the truck and fully loaded trailer at about 25 mph. At this...

    L3800 seat upgrade suggestions

It’s time to drop some coin on a good seat. Our roads at the camp are no where near smooth and it’s starting to catch up with me. I’d prefer something I could just swap out but not opposed to some minor modifications to make it fit. TIA.

    Axle Straps

I currently tie down my L3800 with heavy duty straps. My D rings aren’t in the best spots so I end up hooking the straps to the staked pockets. It’s a pain. Adding more D rings would be a big improvement but my schedule won’t allow all that now. I recently had the idea of running axle straps...

L3800 grease fitting on front axle not in manual

My L3800 has two grease fittings on the front axle. The one in front of the axle is in the manual. It is the front axle support and requires the removal of the breather plug. On the back side of the axle is another fitting where the shaft connects to the axle. This fitting is not shown in the...

    Lanyard for keys

I was half way home from the camp the other day when I realized I didn’t have my tractor keys. I ended up finding them a few days later between my seats. I need to get a bright colored lanyard so I can avoid that frustration again in the future. I was thinking a bright colored neck style...

    Service life of hydraulic hoses

So, how long do hydraulic hoses last? I’ve got 300 hours on my L3800. My tractor stays out of the weather and my hoses aren’t showing any wear. Will they last another 10 years? My time is limited these days and I’ve thought how a ruptured hose would ruin a weekend at the camp.

Removing clumping bamboo with a stump bucket?

I’ve got some dense clumping bamboo stumps I want to remove from my yard. It’s not a project I want to start any time soon but I’m evaluating the removal options. I tried digging them up with my loader bucket but it was like digging into a brick wall. I don’t own a stump bucket but I’d sure buy...

Plywood to prevent rutting? FOLLOW UP

I‘d like to use my L3800 on a drainage project in my yard. I don’t want to create more work for myself by creating ruts that I’ll have to repair. The ground is soft where the work is needed but not soupy. I have ag tires and it could get ugly quick. I had the idea to lay down 1/2” OSB sheets so...

    Replacing my trailer deck

Yay, I’m in the process of replacing my trailer deck while lumber prices skyrocket. I’ve got an 18’ deck with a 2’ dovetail. The boards are cut and now I’m trying to decide on board spacing and paint. I live in south Alabama in the second most rainiest part of the USA. And yes, very high...

    Trailer deck life

I bought a new 20’ trailer less than 5 years ago. I’m disappointed that I now have multiple rotted boards that must be replaced. The trailer lives outside in the weather but so does my deck at my house. I even put a few gallons of Linseed oil on it twice. Maybe I’m being unreasonable that I have...

L3800 5 yrs & low hrs - transmission fluid change?

My L3800 is officially 5 years old and paid off (yay!). I have completed all of the recommended maintenance up to this point. I have 225 hours and still have the original transmission fluid. The manual says to change the transmission fluid at 400 hours. At my current run rate, my tractor may be...

    L3800 wheel spacing and stability

I’d like to improve the stability of my L3800. My machine is primarily dedicated to the hunting camp. I’m growing weary of the rocking while navigating bumpy roads and uneven fields. I’m tryin to figure out the best path forward. I have loaded R1 tires and I think I can swap them to give me a...

    Seat upgrade

I’m considering a new seat after running my disk over areas damaged by feral hogs Saturday. My back is sore from the bouncing and I was deliberately going slow. I’ve got an OEM seat that came on my L3800 and I always wear my seat belt. If I got a seat that is more a captains chair style I’m...

    DIY Tractor Cover

I made a loose fitting cover for my L3800 out of a retired 14’x48’ billboard sign. Untitled by bambam32, on Flickr[/IMG] Overall dimensions are about 11’x17’ Untitled by bambam32, on Flickr[/IMG] The sign has a sleeve on each end. I slid a piece of pvc pipe in the sleeve and...

    Zirks all the same ??

I’ve got a L3800 and I need to replace a few clogged zirks. Does anyone know if the zirks on my tractor are all the same size and same thread type? I’ve never replaced one before and I’d like to buy a kit to keep on hand. Thanks.

    Degreasing a loader

Over the past five years a lot of grease has accumulated and collected dirt and twigs around the pivot points. It’s a mess and I cleaned some of it of with WD-40 today. I guess I could hit it with a power washer but is there a better a to get this cleaned up?
