Looks to me like the pinion gear is riding high on the bull gear. How are the bearings? Have you replaced the pinion gear bearing?

There should be a grove or trough from where the original zerk was to allow the grease to flow completely around the pin. Easy-out the old zerk and replace.

What is 'earth'? Neg side of battery? Just a suggestion- Mount a mechanical gauge inside the engine compartment for piece of mind. In the US I can buy a mechanical gauge......Sun brand for about $12. The chance of you finding that particular gauge might be hard......sender and gauge must match...

Clean the battery cable connections. Suggestion- replace your cables, move ground from frame to engine block near starter, add ground to dash. Go over your entire electrical system. No on the deep cycle battery. It's fine to leave the charger on. The last battery on the tractor lasted 6...

The hub does not care what side of the wheel it's on. DON'T use a soft bolt again.

I forget the term for it......... Rust forms between the splines of any shaft/coupler/yoke, that rust acts as an abrasive and wears the splines down to the point that they fail, as in your case. Your shaft or your new shaft or your new coupler or yoke will be imperfect......life is...

My bad.......maybe From what the pic shows, looks like a drive shaft at the yoke. The pics were WAY big at the time.
