So love or hate them, We got a new 2025 Cadillac Lyriq EV to replace the tired Cadillac SRX.
Its a sweet ride, AWD, Dual motor and 319 mile range.

We did a ton of research for a couple years on all the makes and models.
We finally decided the timing was right.
Got a killer price on it and a 10 year bumper to bumper warranty, including the battery.
So for ten years all we have to do is take care of it.
The insurance on it is cheaper than the old SRX???

One downfall of having a EV is changing in the cold, you need to heat the batteries to charge them, well we have a heated garage (60F ) in the winter, so that's not an issue.
Garage was also prewired for charging.

Crazy things about this car :
It has an angelic sound system when traveling slowly (warning signal) because the car moves silently.
You don't need to use the brake pedal at all, except reversing.
It parks and unparks itself!
It plants you in the seat at 515 HP and 450 lb ft of torque. 😋

Here is the Mrs showing off her new ride.

Good to see that you fessed up! Having seen the car in person it really is pretty darn awesome, and the color is gorgeous in the flesh so to speak. The interior is even more stunning and the stance is as sexy as all get out.

My "new" F-450 has about the same hp at 500, but 1,200 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 rpm. I don't know much of anything about EVs but what is the max rpm of the electric motor and where is the torque and hp available? Regardless, very cool ride, cool Mrs., lovely dog, and you're not too bad yourself! ☺

Motors typically reaching speeds of 10,000 to 20,000 RPM

Unlike traditional engines that need to rev up to produce significant torque, electric motors deliver maximum torque from 0 RPM, providing instant acceleration.

In terms of 1 to 1 comparison:

Gas motor @ 515hp is 15 to 22 MPG
Electric engine @ 515hp is 98 MPGe

WHats the charging time?
Right now about 10% of battery per hour on a plug in charger.
35 to 55 miles / hour
I don't have the big charger hooked up yet, then that number will drop more.

Congratulations to your new racing car with 515hp :giggle:

And yes, very nice colour !

The slower you charge it the longer the battery will last. Also cycling between 20% and 80% makes a huge difference in life expectancy compared to 0% to 100%.

Did NIW get a new ride too? A big Camo painted one?
If you're referring to the M-1078 then the answer is no. The new owner is a few miles south in Hayden. :)

Looks like a great ride. The Mrs. looks happy, and that’s all that matters.

A friend readily admits his 2016(?) Chevy Volt hybrid is the best car he’s ever had.

He was a service manager for a GM dealership for years. Was a tech for decades. Has several great GM classics.

A guy you would never think to own an hybrid….

I’m not ready to make “the leap” to EV or hybrid, but I don’t criticize those that do.

Heck, I just bought a truck that exceeds 400 c.i.d.…not sure that’s the way to go either at 14mpg….a 36 gallon gasoline tank can get expensive……😳

Hope it works well for you.

My F-450 is in the same camp at 6.7L (409 cu. in.), but if you need to pull a good sized boat, camper, toy hauler or other loaded trailer around, there aren't many options for that other than a truck.

As sexy as the Lyriq is, I doubt that anyone buys a Lyriq for towing duties, but if an EV is ever on my to buy list I'd take a really good look at this model. I took a look at the specs on Cadillac's website and it's rated to pull 3,5000 lb. That's a fair bit more than my Jeep TJ is rated for.

That sure is a nice looking ride!

My daughter had a Ford hybrid when she lived in Hawaii.

I rode it in it while we visited, and I was "duly impressed”.

I don’t hate them (ev’s), but having a cabin that is 280 miles away and a car with a 320 mile range, seems like “cutting it close” …..but for a local ride, I can see it.

The fastest Cadillac is the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, a performance luxury sedan powered by a 6.2L supercharged V8 engine producing 668 horsepower. It offers blistering acceleration, with a 0-60 mph time of around 3.4-3.7 seconds, and can achieve a top speed of over 200 mph.
