Well, you may learn a very valuable lesson in economics.
Dealers often don't really like to work on older tractors. They often don't have technicians who are familiar with them. So parts get replaced that are not in stock and take a lot of time to receive, or maybe not even needed. Hope that is not the case with your situation, but I'd always ask for a cost before turning a job over unknowing. Or at least ask to be notified before any parts are ordered. It is possible to spend more on parts and labor then the machine is worth.

Had a pretty good storm here in the Denver area, so I got to do some plowing! I love this tractor, actually kind of fun plowing snow, I have a 400’ driveway so it gets done in short order, a lot faster than my quad with the small plow blade. I think I will add a light bar pointed behind me though.

I have only had my "new-to-me" M4900 for a couple of months so I am still making a few changes. The FEL bucket had a couple of hooks welded inside which have already hooked vines and caused me to have to dismount a few times.
What I did may be temporary but it will work for now. A couple of links of grade 70 chain, a couple of grade 8 bolts, and a couple of 7/16" hooks will do the job without me building hook brackets or welding hooks the top the bucket. Of course they will not take a side load, but the others wouldn't either.
A side grinder will remove the hooks from the bucket.

I don't remember seeing a bucket with hooks welded as yours are. Wonder what the installers intend was?

Don't know what he was thinking but they are coming off. If my temporary hook attachments work, they will stay. We shall see.
I have/run a Wood-Mizer portable sawmill and have pallet forks for logs but I want the hooks on the bucket for whatever reason.

Got the tractor back this morning. Faster turnaround than expected as I just dropped it off Monday.
Rear defrost window = $282
Freight = $115
Labor =$145
Total for life lesson = $542
This happen to the owner of the logging company I use to work for. The skidder was down and he was using his tractor to skid logs. His son didn't get the chain hooked all the way and when he pulled off the chain hit the rear window. What a pain to replace.
Then a couple days later, the door came open while he was backing up and caught on a tree. That wasn't any fun replace either.

That sounded reasonable jk96, but of course everything is more reasonable when someone else is paying.
I thought it was as well. Was expecting the glass alone to be that much or more until another member mentioned the cost from Messicks.

We cleared some more brush, loaded up some scrap metal on the trailer, and cleaned out part of the barn.
Got the baler all back together yesterday only to find out I had another bearing bad that I couldn't hear because of the bad ones I just replaced. 3 hrs later and a good knot on my head from a prybar and she's ready to go.
