I understand that advertisers pay for the site, but I swear I'm going to stop visiting all together if I can't figure out a way to avoid triggering a pop up video ad every time I move the mouse.

What is the AD?

If it's the Bayer (several different ones) I've already put in a request to have them axed! ;)

Guys,

first all, when things "pop" up without clicking.....you have walware or something else that has installed itself. If you do not have a "good" adware checker, virus checker etc......get one!:)

Also - it might be worth the 50 bucks to take your machine to someone and have it cleaned.

Those who have google chrome, adblock and adblock pro are both FREE and quick to install,

and they stop every sinnnnnngle AD on this site and every other site. - PERIOD. :D:)

Been here almost 3 years, never ONCE seen an add........NONE!

Nope, not true. ;)
It is actually mouse activated Ads or what they call hover Ads, a real PITA.

Mr K is the only one that can kill them from the Ad pack that they get.

As a Mod I don't run any ad blocking so that I can see if there is an issue, I also run OTT on several browsers just to make sure it's all working right.

I have had words that have been underlined that somehow when the mouse moves over them a ad pops up - no need to click:), now that somehow added itself when sites were visited..... (not this one)- after digging into the add/modify programs, found that some neat little ad something something had installed itself - and even AFTER uninstalling it - still had problems, had to do a restore to get back to normal.

I have never had any problems with any ad on this site when looking at on phone or tablet - I can understand the frustration when trying to read something and all kinds of crazy things popping up !

NIW - I know you two guys are doing everything you can to smooth out the wrinkles too!:D:)

agree, the last time this came up took 85Hokies advice and now I never see ads. sometimes sites tell you to unblock their ads but you don't have to.

Ad Block Plus seems to be working- since installing yesterday, 739 ads blocked, 4 on this page alone, just this visit!
I know ads help support the site.
I normally don't mind looking at ads, and occasionally (rarely) will click on something that looks interesting, but popping up & playing because I got my cursor too close is too damn pushy. Especially irritating is the pop up at the top of the page- run the cursor over it, it pops up, you click the "close" box to get rid of it, it closes, but guess what, your cursor is over the ad as soon as it closes, and it pops up again. Infuriating!
