I purchased this tractor in the spring , the previous owner replaced the muffler with a straight pipe , which has cracked and needs replaced , the stock muffleris no longer available , the only one I've seen is used and the price is on the high side . so I've beeen looking at mufflers that fit other tractors , given that the stock TG1860 muffler had a long tail pipe going down , and the tail pipes on the others that I'm looking at go foward through the grill , I'm thinking that I can use one of these and rotate the muffler so the tail pipe points down and put an extension on it . the mufflers I've looked at range in price from $40 to $120 , part #s 2551-83110 , 2561 - 83110 , 2571-83110 and 2581- 83110 , they all take the same gasket and looking at measurements are very similar in size , guessing the difference being the position of the tail pipe . I'm open to suggestions and finding something that will work for this tractor other then having a new straight pipe made ,

as far as being antiques , it's only 25 years old vs the early B Models from the 70's whish are almost 50 yrs old
Messicks shows 2 , one for $398 , and one for $632 , just a little more then I want to think about , the difference being in the mounting brackets

YIKES $632 for just a muffler...
heck for less than that I also got complete 40HP tractor, rear blade and 3 btm plow.
I believe some serious 'bodging' is in order...unless of course you have to 'restore to factory specs'......
or go to ePAY, 2-3 there, though some are 2 legged ? $125 though..used of course.
If it fit/worked, I'd clean it up and paint with VHT paint.

I just sold a TG1860 (for $500) 'cause I got tired of fiddling with. Exhaust was fine. You might post an ad on FB looking for a parts machine.

manufacturers are only required to support products for 5 years. Most will continue well beyond that to support them, but I've worked on equipment that is just 6 yrs old at the time, wiring harness NLA. That was a mess!
Cars are often compared with. A 25 year old car, there are a ton of parts that are NLA-I own one. A LOT of stuff is no longer found, even though it's a very popular car. The aftermarket is huge for them, however they don't make everything.
I own a 2000 model Kawasaki Mule. A lot of those parts are NLA. Fuel tank, fuel tank accessories, engine assembly, etc etc. It's only 23 years old.
I also own a late build G1800 (well, it's mine but my mom uses it). A lot of those parts are no longer available.
I own a John Deere JX75 walk-behind. One of the last ones that I could get when the dealer quit selling walk-behinds. 2005-ish I think. Great mower. Lot of those parts, NLA which sucks because it's a wonderful little mower.
I drive a 2003 F-250. You can't get OEM 7.3L parts anymore, Aftermarket only now for some stuff.
I don't like it either but what's our options? Manufacturer has a 5 year requirement, once past that whatever they decide to do, is their decision-not ours.
Not sure about our tractors but auto companies are required to supply for 10 years by Fed Law. Pretty sure other things are 7 but I can't find it. Google keeps side tracking the search. FWIW my 2160 (according to the engine number) is 2007 production
