A while back I bought a 20ft shipping container to store all of my implements in as I was out of room in my garage. I cant stand to have all of the orange sitting out side rusting away with the cost of them. Got a great buy on it,but the paint scheme didnt go with my house. So I took my angle grinder with wire wheel and hit the old paint letters and bad spots, pressure washed it, then primed the rough spots. Found some direct to metal paint at Sherwin Williams, and got the light grey color my wife picked out of course. Was actually able to use a roller and go sideways to paint it as it was too close to my white garage to try and spray. It went alot easier than I thought it would and came out great.

Nicely done! Should be good to go now for several years.

I have one the same size. It was a one trip container so it was basically brand new. Found it on Craigslist for 3K delivered. Waterproof, rodent proof, and my tractor will even fit inside with the rops up.

You guys make me jealous. I would love to have one on my acerage but I am within town limits and they are prohibited.
Would love to something like this for storage but not quite so big. Could store the quads and sleds in one with the boats in the center and the tractor in the other one.

My buddy's dad bought two when they were building their house. They coated them with bedliner and surrounded them with crushed stone and buried them. 15 years later they still done leak and are quite useful for out of sight storage.

There are companies now that make a roof to straddle containers turning it into essentially a barn. Some of them actually sell containers too thus they deliver you containers...... with the roof bits inside ready to build (or they install before leaving)

I find them a little expensive, 2750 is cheapest i have seen up here. Thats a 40 foot one. 20 is near the same price.
Still want a couple. Roof between them.
They make great dry storage. Had to build a ramp to get mower in and out of one, ramp folded up inside doors. Worked very well.

I bought the shipping container from a place in Cleveland Ohio that sells them. The owner of my Kubota dealership asked me to ride up with him as he was looking to get 2-40footers for storage. I looked at a 20 and thought it would be perfect for my implements instead of trying to add a lean-too or something to my garage. As Yooper said, it is weather proof and rodent proof. I already had put a large stone area by my garage, so I had a place to set it. As pauly said, I looked on line for them and they were $1200.00 to $1800.00. This place said a 20 was between $1200.00-$1500.00. I looked at about 20 different units and picked one out. When I called and gave them the number of the one I picked out, a different guy answered, and he told be this one was a $1000.00. I couldnt give him my card number fast enough. The owner from Kubota bought the 2-40s. We had a guy haul all of them back to his dealership for $250.00 each, which was a good deal. Normaly 3-400 hundred. The dealer then loaded mine up on his tiltbed truck he hauls tractors on, and brought it to my house and set it in place which I traded out some work I did on his Harley for him. It has worked out very well. Nice thing is when you set in place you are all done.

Single trip 20 footer is $3500-4000 delivered in my area. You can find them cheaper ($2000-2500) in Phoenix, but delivery to the mountains (150+miles) runs the price back up. Flagstaff & Winslow are 60-80 miles away, so not much help there.

It is really something how the cost of shipping containers vary in different parts of the country per what I have seen on these posts. I guess I at least live in the right part of the country for shipping containers.

How did they support the roof of them? The roof is not designed to support very much weight
