What does everyone think about this? Due to some temporary space issues, it would help if I parked my BX with the FEL up in the air about 6 ft. Is this bad for the hydraulic system to be parked with pressure on it? I don't run it every day, sometimes only once every week or 2. Assuming it would slowly leak down anyway. Am I crazy for wanting to do this?

My concern would be for whatever you are parking underneath it. The hydraulic systems are known to bleed down over time. So, you’ll want to make sure you lock out the cylinders or prop up the FEL somehow.

Dangerous way to leave it unless you block it up with rugged enough blocking.

I know a guy who did what you're describing, actually two guys ( with bad results).

One was using his tractor. Got off with the loader up, went in to eat lunch. When he came back out he discovered his loaded had apparently came down in a hurry and his dog had gotten under the loader and was crushed to death.

Other person parked his tractor in a garage with loader up and under the loader was another machine. Loader fell suddenly and smashed the steering wheel and hood of other machine.

Leaving a loader up invites trouble. The loader up leaves pressure on the hydraulic system and eventually a failure will occur.

100% bad idea to leave a loader or implement up off the ground.
Hydraulics bleed down, hydraulics fail, people pull levers when the shouldn't.

If you use cylinder locks that would make it safer, but what happens the first time you forget to use them! :(

Sounds like we are all on the same page, so far. If you have to do it, cylinder stops are a must. There are just way too many reasons not to do it.

Thanks all, for the common sense slap upside the head!

I kinda figgered it was a bad idea, but never hurts to ask the experts!

I'll continue to be tight with space, but safe. :)
