Brand new BX25D delivered yesterday. Removed the bucket and backhoe without any problems. Hooked up the hydraulic loop on the back and capped everything else. The mower deck will not lower while the tractor is running. When turned off I can move the deck lowering handle back and forth and it will incrementally move the deck down very slowly. When the tractor is started the deck raises normally. I have searched the internet extensively and have not run across this. I have moved the mower height and 3PtH speed adjustment to multiple settings and this does not affect it. Any suggestions?

It would seem that the mower height lockout is a common issue, but as I mentioned, I moved that, as well as the 3PTh speed adjuster knob, and it made no difference. As for the disconnects, there is only one which needs reconnected when the backhoe is removed, and there is only one place for it to go, and I re-seated that as well. I'm perplexed. I have a service call in and luckily the guy is in my area this afternoon, so I will post up what he finds.

Thanks for the replies.

Ditto what CN said - sometimes it will hang and needs a yank or a love tap!;)

If you lock out the deck when it is all the way up will the 3 pt arms drop?
You can push down on the arms.
If they are not moving down the problem is in the hydraulic system.
WSM states control valve problem.

If not the linkage has a problem
The linkage for the deck is inside the left rear tire.
You may have to drop the deck and inspect the linkage.

The 3pt arms will go down with enough pressure (standing on them), when the lever is put in the lowering position. I appreciate the schematic drawing...it's nice to see exactly how the linkage works.

I just double checked.

I can push the 3 pt levers down with light thumb pressure.

So I think the problem is in the hydraulics.

Maybe the speed control valve.

" you can push the 3 point levers down".. If that's true it's not hydralic. The lever that operates the deck is on the left side of the trans, between the trans and lft rear wheel. The lever on the right of your leg operstes the 3point system. The 3point is hooked to the linkage between the trans and lft rear wheel. The linkage is made so if the 3point goes up, the mmm linkage goes up but,,,, the 3point can go down without the mmm going down.

Use the up-down three point lever to lift those arms all the way up, then turn the height knob clockwise to the lowest number. That should then allow the arms to go down and then also the mower. I suspect mower was stuck on "top" setting.

Ok, so to close the loop on this thread, there was nothing wrong with the hydraulics or any part of the tractor for that matter, only the operator. The service technician jumped on an promptly lowered and raised the deck. So, he explained that there is a hard stop at the bottom of the lever travel. The lever must be moved slightly to the right, or it will go no further. There is no indication on the lever label that this needs to be done in order to get any lowering of the deck. I assume that this is a safety mechanism in order to keep the deck being accidentally lowered, but I think that the labeling could be better. Regardless, all is good, and the lawn got mowed before company arrived on Saturday. Thanks for all the helpful posts...it's helped me learn more about my new bota!!
