After using my B7100D for 1.5 years for all our mowing and tractor work it was time to upgrade. Yesterday I was able to take advantage of the 0% interest deal offered by Kubota. With the tractor I also purchased a Landpride rear finish mower 1672 for mowing my 1.5 acres. I will also be using this tractor to mow several other properties in my area that are all less than 1 mile from my house. I used the mower on my yard yesterday and it did a great job. I paid 16,400 for the tractor and the mower with R4's. to sweeten the deal I negotiated all the supplies for my 50 hour service.

My next addition will be a 22" 7500 lumen led light bar mounted to the rops. I priced these today and it seems the mfg's are very proud of these and are quiet expensive.

Thanks,

We have been living here about 9 months now. This is our first home and I always seem to find a reason to use the tractor for landscaping.

Just an update. I have mowed several times so far. I mowed 5 acres today and was able to mow at 10mph and achieve a great cut. The area was mostly a wide open field area that was maintained as a lawn.

I do have one issue with the blades hitting each other under certain situations. I will be calling the dealer tomorrow to have this addressed.

Is this a normal problem with a 6ft deck?

10mph is a bit damn fast for a tractor. Commercial grade zero turns can clock out that fast but I've never been on one I could hang on for the ride that fast. Slow it down and see if the neck smooths out. Could be that the deck is bounching all over the ground and flexing and bending to fast and cant keep up.

I agree- 10 mph is fast. My B7100 won't even go 10 mph. I bet the blades are flexing enough with bumps and bouncing that they intermittently touch each other.

This morning called the dealer and it just so happened that the southeastern us rep for Landpride was there this morning. I took the deck by and and they measured all the blades and checked the deck for broken welds. The issue turned out to be the right hand blade was 1/16" longer than the others causing it to hit. They offered to grind some off the longer blade I was not accepting if this idea and they replaced it after I explained that the blade was obviously not correct from the factory and that I did not pay a premium price for substandard equipment. Call me crazy but I don't feel $2200 is loose change and it better be perfect.

Agreed 10mph is quick. I did have to slow down around the edges where the grading of the land was not so great.

I see bent spindles and stress cracks in your future.

My brother also believes in mowing at warp speed, can not get him to slow down. Two spindles and a pulley so far this year - belts aaaaaaah lost count. He is a slow learner.

Well played. If I bought a new one, I would've played the same card. Who knows if you would end up with unbalanced blades.

I'm not saying that he shouldn't have held out for a new blade; it's his tractor, his money, his decision. But, grinding 1/16th inch off wouldn't have done anything- they get more gunk and corrosion on them than that amount of weight difference, without being unbalanced. For that matter, unless a person can perfectly sharpen both sides of a blade, there can be that much weight difference just by grinding more off one side than the other.
Me, I would have taken the 1/16th off, and had 3 blades with the same amount of wear on them.

Hodge,

Agreed on the wear part. I did consider this but due to the deck only having 3 hrs on it the original blades barely had the paint missing from the cutting edge.

For me I think I would want a correct fitting blade free of charge rather then a half assed attempt/exuse of shaving down the wrong blade and make it work.

Look on amazon, find some nice 4" LED lights there, after buying switches and looms and wire, still only spent $100, lights are super nice and super bright!

I have the Land Pride 1648 that I use on my BX1870 and, once I got it correctly attached, leveled and well greased, I could not be happier with how it cuts. I grease every zerk (there's eleven of them) on the 1648 before every mowing, even if my last mowing only took two hours. After mowing I blow it down on top and underneath with a leaf blower. Come the end of mowing season, I intend to hoist it up, thoroughly clean the underside, sharpen and/or replace the three blades, spray some preservative oil underneath and then store in a clean and dry environment.

Ben,

The land pride decks seem to cut very well. I have mowed 10-12 acres so far and have about 10hrs of seat time. They seem to be well built. I upsized from a 60" to a 72" and the extra foot makes much more difference than I previously thought when mowing. With the rear discharge I have cut thick grass 8-12" deep without slowing up.
