My L2900 stopped starting the other day, I was checking around the shift lever and wiggling it it started 3 times so I thought I was good to go.
Next day same thing Click... Battery is good I think it may be the switch in shift lever. Can I unplug the two wires and put them together to bypass switch to test it?

A click is a tell-tale sign of not a good connection to the starter - most of the time a bad safety switch will not get a "click"

I would check you BATTERY and it's connections - a good battery needs a load test, a volt meter MAY give you a good reading - but once the tractor starter places a load on it - you get nadda.

Pull the battery - take to local auto parts place - they will check for free.

Clean you connections - then clean them again.

Check deep inside those connectors - see if some of those wires have corroded - replace them if needed.

Thanks, battery is definitely good, lights and gages all work.
The clicking sound I think is a starter relay. When I was moving shift lever in the neutral position is when the clicking starts, that's why I was thinking it's the switch at the shift lever. there are couple bare spots on the wires on the switch.

Yes connect the two wires together to bypass the switch and confirm it needs replaced.
