Almost sounds like a pitch to sell you a warranty.

Don't have a cell phone, though how could a 'warranty' help if the 'network' is down ??
Think this is the 11th year for sunspots ?
Chinese balloon data has been decoded and access granted to cellphone systems ?
Some 'kid' got into a tower and plugged his laptop into the USB service port ?

mine seems to work ! Sometimes too well.

I teach in a concrete "basement" - I have to walk down a hall to get a signal!!! Sometimes it is a blessing!

The “news” was abundant this last week of China/Russia IT hacking with the intention of causing major utilities and communication outages.

I keep my generators fueled-up and my (FRS/GMRS) comm-radios charged.

Verizon working here in NW Central OH. Not sure about other carriers. Wife said that news is reporting most all carriers down in the big city. Smells and tastes and looks like a cyber attack due to the scope. Hopefully they have a good disaster recovery program and sharp IT people who can get them back online quickly.

I was always bad about understanding lyrics when the music is overwhelming….. I liked the music….. But I thought they were saying “There’s a bath room on the Right”

(I also recall as a young Boy Scout singing around the campfire “Like a Motor-Boat Ashore…Alleluia…”) 🤪

I had one of the callboards like Ernestine's.... 60 line, still worked, made in 1949, still have blueprints for it.
Sad I couldn't sell it for $50 let alone give it away....

My house was built as a hunting lodge in 1951 and until 1971 had a wall-mounted magneto-driven phone (like seen on early episodes of “Lassie”).

In 1971 the local phone exchange was bought out by GTE and merged with the closest town about 15 miles away.….and this house remained on a “party line” until 1991. (Ernestine’s counterpart, a spinster, “Miss June” was the local operator and the local phone system was fully operational from 7AM until 9PM…when Miss June would shut down and go to sleep. If anyone wished to make a call after 9PM and before 7AM they had to “crank” the magneto Three Long Rings…. and Miss June would make the connection….BUT it had Better Be Important..!! because Miss June WOULD be listening-in!

In 1971 when the local exchange was purchased by GTE…they installed a black Bakelite dial-phone…. and about 170 local subscribers turned-in their oak-box magneto phones…. and Miss Junes CallBoard and all those beautiful antique phones….. were bulldozed into a hole and are presently beneath the asphalt parking lot of a lumber-company who eventually bought that building.

It was said that the CallBoard appeared as if it were made last week as Miss June kept it and the golden-scroll-work polished and the oaken-cabinet waxed.

It’s strange to think that this house in ‘71 still had a party-line magneto-phone…. TWO YEARS AFTER we had MEN ON THE MOON!

My phone just came back into service. ATT released a statement saying most service should be restored. Still no reason for the outage.

Sounds like a person would have done well to get along with Miss June. 😄

My childhood included a party line and a rotary phone hanging on the kitchen wall with a 20 something foot long cord, all owned by Ma Bell. The neighbors would listen in to your call sometimes. I think I’d have rather it been Miss June or either of her sisters, 👯‍♀️ Miss May and Miss July.

The AT&T cell outage was due to a botched software upgrade.
Apparently, they needed to do a little more testing before rolling that one out.
