Purchasing gasoline at the station can be a problem when communications networks shut down…. If the modem at the pump cannot make connection to the network…your card may not be ”approved” …and you may remain “outta gas”.

I did not get any calls today. Or yesterday or the day before. I think you can see where this is going and the effect of a telephone ystem network having outage issues. Oh the Humanity!

Had a pay phone at the end of the bar I worked at.

Had a customer that needed to keep a job as part of his probation for “keeping books.”

He literally knew the number of every pay phone in our city of 20,000 people, off the top of his head!

Remember him betting $50 on all “the dogs” one Saturday morning in November.

I think was all the underdogs listed in the New York Post (?) Sports Section……probably $2,500 put down in 15 seconds.

Oddly, he was arrested at the bar stool right next to that pay phone a couple years earlier….
