Hi, i have a Kubota L1501, which i love... and my wife as well.:). But it cranks over so slowly, i've had the starter motor checked (its good). charged the battery, battery reads 12.6 volt cleaned all the battery terminals- retightened all the fittings ..and still the same, i am no mechanic but pride myself as being able to follow simple instructions (ask the wife). But i am banging my head against a wall with this one.. Can anyone help with what i do next.. i have a volt/amp meter, and some spanners.. Thank you

Battery could read the 12.6 volts, but when put under a load doesn't function. Take battery out and have an auto parts store confirm it's good.

Ditto what D2 said .....voltage aint what drives the ship! Like Cat said, you can have great voltage - but them thar amps is what makes that little starter go spin-spin.

Have it tested - or place a another battery in there, or jump the tractor, if any of those improve the situation, then the battery is suspect.

Did you clean the battery ground terminal where it connects to the frame? If not, take it off and polish both surfaces. Be sure the terminals on the battery and cables are clean.

Quick check for bad cables, jump with cables from the Neg to ground.
and from Pos to the top terminal on the starter, do one at a time, then you know which cable to clean or replace.

As wolfman said, bypassing battery cables one at a time will be a good way to test for a bad connection.that is, if cables are in good condition and clamps are connected securely.

A honda battery, depending on its age may not cut the mustard either, but will still start a car. My kubota L1501 was also cranking slow.

A battery a 12.6 is marginal. Test voltage on battery while cranking. Should be no less then 10 volts.

Well .. Thank you to each one that replied, and YES it was a bad earth, and YES the battery was shot... no amps.. so i cleaned up all earth contact areas, retightened and used my CRV battery a squirt of WD40 (cause i am a sucker for that stuff)..... And BAM away she went.. as if she had'nt been sitting there for a year.. so again big Thanks all round, you are great guys..:):D
