Not sure that is a true statement anymore. Since the introduction of ULSD requirement in 2010 (i believe that was the year), deiseal requires more refining and refineries had to add additional processing ability. Our local refinery added four units to be able to process deisel.

That's about $7.39 USD/GAL.....OUCH :(

Saw diesel advertised $4.99 today; that's still two times as much as it was pre-pandemic.

same dsl last week was $1.74........so not a mfr process....
Okay, so your diesel was more expensive than gas last week, but my answer is not correct?

Your assumption is still wrong that diesel is cheaper to make.

Do a little research and you will see that diesel cost more now to produce than previously. Your statement use to be correct that diesel was cheaper less refined product, but not anymore.

Since you are in Canada, my assumption, which I could be wrong, that you are required to use ULSD. If you don't have to use ULSD then yes, you are being screwed and stop buying diesel fuel.

Sorry for the confusion..
I paid $1.74 for diesel last week , today it's $1.95, meanwhile gas has DROPPED from $1.80 to $1.50..

There's no way the cost to manufacture diesel went up in less than a week AND at the same time, they can make gas cheaper..
Yes ,ULSD is the ONLY diesel I can buy....
If it keeps going up, then yes, I can stop buying diesel, just have to sell the BX23S. I can even make money doing so...

If you think that gasoline and diesel are expensive, take a look at the cost of bottled water!
I was with my wife when she was picking up some makeup at one of the mall stores. It was 3 grams and almost $30 for the package. I told the sales lady (and I used the term very loosely) that the product cost just shy of $10 a gram, and that works out to $280 an ounce (28.3495 grams to an ounce). or $12,698 and then asked her if it was delivered to the store by armored car. She wasn't amused and asked me to leave the store. As I was leaving a security guard stopped me and asked what the problem was. I explained that I had told her that the products were outrageously overpriced and explained to him the math. He laughed and we both walked out of the store smiling. My wife wasn't as amused as I was. As it worked out well because she decided that she didn't need that expensive makeup. I doubt that women ever think of the cost of many of the cosmetics that they purchase.

OIC

My guess, they are getting rid of their summer stock of fuel. Here in the US, gasoline blend changes from June 1 to September 15th to regulate vapors. So, if there is surplus of summer blend gas, they may try to be dumping it before the required switchover date.

Yet, I don't know if that applies in Canada.

yes, welcome to Canada,eh !!!
odds are excellent that our 'king' will freely export boatloads of it to Germany et al and then, of course, due to 'supply issues', OUR diesel will be about $10 a gallon....

take away the taxes and diesel is same or less than gas. In the states there are federal, state and local taxes on top of the taxes for gasoline. Good example is between the state line of IL and WI, about a .50 per gallon difference. With my TSD card I get Diesel for $4.47 a gallon. When filling the 50 gallon transfer tank, and the 48 gallon tank on the truck, it gets REALLY expensive! I have some hay to sell to offset the costs.
