So when fixing a gravel driveway is the point of the box blade to actually rip up packed gravel or just reposition gravel that has gotten shoved out of place. I have a great base and tons of gravel.

Typically in a gravel drive over time is the "lanes" become packed down, leaving the middle "high" - and then more gravel is pushed to the outside.

So in a perfect world, you are trying to pull from the outside back to the inside lanes, or place the middle back to the outside lanes.

The great thing about a box blade is that it picks up and then places down the same width the entire time, where as a scraper blade will push and pull!

I would say you have the perfect understanding of the box blade!;):)

Look at a land plane, it makes fixing a driveway, a walk in the park. ;)

And if you wonder how well it works,
First is the Driveway on Friday afternoon, finished it today.

Second is my house pad Saturday, finished it today.
Oh and the building pad is within 2" just roughing it in. :D

Moving right along, down the hill by where you parked you'll see a stack of foam and OSB, that's the foundation boards and foam. :D
I got a pair of the rollers for a really good price, one cylinder diesel, and they run perfectly.
When you turn on the vibrator, you can just watch the sand settle right in tight. ;)

Is that store bought or home made, been thinking about making one for a while now.
Homemade, :D I beams for the sides and AR steel for the blades, and a little other steel.
The heavier the I beams the better, You could also use C channel for the runners.

Thanks Sean, I have heavy I beams that they removed when replacing a bridge out the road, I was using them for mornings so just have to get them out of the lake first. Excellent lob by the way.

Like your land plane NIW. Have a friends Frontier borrowed right now and been thinking about building one only question is, is there any reason the blades are angled other than crowning a road? Some have one straight and one angled, some angle both. I wonder how it would do with both blades straight?

With 2 strait blades the plane will bounce or hop, not good for leveling. ;)
