Is your annual rainfall so little rain gutters are not installed?
Well we just bought this place/house in June, it was adjoined to our existing farm. I did have a new metal roof installed. I've been debating whether to put gutters on, to collect the dust?!?

We're supposed to get on avg. 28.7in last few years it's been closer to 24in or less.

Cattle prices plummeted this week by 40%, b/c of drought, so many cattle were brought in, the prices tanked.

Wow, hope you can hold on. You sold the 'bull' already, didn't you?
One of neighbors sold a calve, $1 a pound, other neighbor sold 3 calves $1.5 to $2 per pound. Just 2 weeks ago it was a solid $2.60 to $3.80 pound on calves. She called me crying this morning, it was a big shock that's for sure. Whats kinda crazy, the hay supply is pretty decent right now and some big producers have more on hand than previous 2 years. I ordered another truck load(20 x $72.50) of hay today, quality and 5x5 net wrapped bales, coming from a big ranch 12 miles north of me) knowing that the prices will be above $100 next month. From May to current, I have only used 3 bales. I'm moving the cows to 5 acre pasture tomorrow, it hasn't been used since June. The ongoing drought periods, the damn agricultural termites are hitting that field pretty hard. Rather feed the cattle vs. the termites. I'll have the cows eat the forage down to dirt, deworm them and then move them again. The termites will make the pasture a small desert of soil anyways.

Last Monday at Live Oak, (avg. Price to highest price). The $1 lb calf was sold here.

Neighbors have been picking corn and drying like mad last couple weeks.

Been dry here too, but nothing like Texas.

Hard to tell from the picture, but there’s a lot of smoke. Their dryer is wood fired; a homebrew thing they devised and built. Wood burner box is about the size of a one-car garage.

Everything is automated as far as dry %, discharge from dryer to storage bins, etc.

Amazing setup.

They do about 1,500 acres of corn last I knew.

They bought a defunct feed mill in town half mile away many years ago. Sell a lot of feed out of there.

Good neighbors and good guys.

While back I thought a brother that was shipping milk from that place had gotten out. Thankfully I was wrong. He’s still milking, but not part of the feed operation

This guy is hauling some hay! Not that unusual by Alberta standards, but pretty big compared to standard 5 axle 80k units. 12' wide, 16' tall, 85' long and grossing 135k on 8 axles

I'm really liking this latest project. I made a small directional feeder. It's super light weight and easy to remove between machines.

On the new place that we bought. I have atleast 1 acre that's between the front and center pasture/corral area. Its behind the shop and behind the house. It has some really good grass in there. I finally put a electric fence up to keep the cows in that area. The house and shop is probably less than 1.5 acres. I'm not opposed to letting them graze around the house either for a couple days. In drought conditions I can deal with a few poo piles around the house. The dung beetles do a pretty decent job in breaking up the crap anyways. Just wondering if Moca would try following me into the house, lol.

Cows are happy.
