Dear Fellow Kubota Friends,

What a wonderful website and an abundant resource of information. Two questions.
I recently looked into upgrading my 1979 B7100D for a new BX2380 and I am on the fence regarding gear versus hydraulic. I am concern about the loss of speed control for the PTO. B7100 has a three speed PTO gear selector. The BX 2380 doesn’t have a variable speed controller for the PTO, is it because the BX2380 is hydraulic instead of gear?

Also, the dealer is offering a trade-in value of $3k for the B7100D (3,300 hours) and a rear 3 point mount Caroni 60” finishing rear discharge mower, low hours. Is it a good trade-in value?

Thanks for looking.

I dont think you will ever need a 3 speed PTO on a little tractor like the BX. I have never found a need for anything more than 540 even on the bigger ones.
As far as hydro goes, if your doing any bucket work, mowing or just going from here to there the high /low on the BX will fill everything you need with the hydro. I came from a gear tractor as well and for my money,,,, SON I AINT GOIN BACK,, just MHO you understand

Just so you know a gear model or hydro BX does not have any more than the one rear PTO speed, multi speed rear/mid PTO is an option that is long gone. ;)

Like others have said little cheap on the trade in, you would be better off selling outright and buying the model you want.

Be advised that the BX series of tractors do not have position control.

You will miss it once without it.

He won't miss it because B7100's didn't have it either. :p ;)

Are you certain?

I've never owned a B7100 but do own a 1994 B1750, the replacement for the 7100, and it does have position control. I would never buy any tractor, even a CUT or SCUT without position control.

Hi Mic, if you get a FEL go with the HST!
As got the PTO: I have never needed the other PTO speed - 540 drives my backhoe pump, chipper, post hole digger.
