When my BX24 runs hot I check around the bottom of the radiator shroud for grass or debris build up. Air hose usually cleans out anything in there. These little guys are very dependent on good air flow. Mine is a 2006 & haven't had to change thermostat, but worth considering.

Check pre screen and radiator itself - clean and then clean again.
IF you do not have an infrared thermometer - buy one, best 20 bucks for answering a lot of questions! you should be getting 60,70 degrees difference from top neck to bottom neck of radiator.

Could be a stuck closed thermostat, and could be bad head gasket too.

How many hours on the BX? You cutting grass under load? OR Fel? or???

Yep my guess would be the pre screen they clog up real fast with grass and debris , and then wash the rad core with simple green or purple power,, and for gosh sake's.............. DO NOT USE A POWER WASHER !!!! Just the garden hose will do fine..

Thank you for posting the solution.
I see many posts with questions, but very few with a solution.
X2.....and many with possible solutions from members giving their time and experience, but no reference for the next person as to what produced which outcome............

My BX2350 is very prone to fine grass/dust build up in front of rad so yes - clean often. I stick a 14" length of rubber fuel line on my compressed air nozzle so I can get compressed air inside the fan shroud (engine side) and reverse the air flow through the rad.

Remember - people like low humidity / high heat but rads like high humidity - it allows them to loose heat faster.
