Love my Bota but have one issue with it that bugs me. Anyone have good ideas on backhoe outrigger locks to hold the outriggers up? I see some of the other Scuts have them but the BX23S doesn’t. I found a guy on YouTube located in Canada that makes chunks of metal for $210… seems like a lot for just that. I saw one thread in here where the guy put a shut off valve on the hydraulic line, not sure if so want to do that.

Here is what I did on my BX25D....

a 50 cent bungee cord and 2 small holes on the feet of the hoe! Hold them up !
Cord goes right in front of the joystick controls - so you see it in your way before you move the outriggers!

hmm.. mine don't go down very far, maybe 1/4" after a day....
'cheap rachet strap' sounds like a great idea though !!!
far better than a bungee that WILL let go at the WRONG time !

I get that a bungee can break - but it is simple, no ratchet to loosen or tighten - and for the simplicity ....... going on 4 years - before the strap, I would start tractor and raise both out riggers and hoe bucket before moving forward.

i use a ratchet strap when i store the BH. when its on the tractor i dont worry about it. i just hit the levers after i fire it up. unless i know im not gonna use it for a while; then i will toss the strap on them. i do plan on drilling holes in the feet eventually as i want to make a set of pads for them.

That... "guy on YouTube located in Canada" ....is most likely Paul Short (Specialty Repairs & Custom Mods), of Bay Roberts, NL.
He makes other custom Kubota ONLY accessories also.
His products are certainly not cheap, but they are exceptionally well made.
I have his replacement step on my L48 TLB.
That step is vastly superior to the original, and truly a work of art.
A better/wider/deeper step is a meaningful safety item for me, at 81 years old!

Paul Short does a GREAT job with modications. However, sometimes the most simpliest ideas are the best in my opinion. I use a bungie but a rachet strap work just as good.

Mine is a little over a year old. Very very limited hoe use. I have found they have not leaked down yet.
While on the tractor at least...when I take the hoe off, I come back a day later and fund the arms sinking..takes maybe a few weeks before they go totally flat.

A ratchet strap will not stretch as a bungee cord will.
My stabilizers are much too heavy (L48 TLB) to trust a bungee cord.
