BX 25 Fuel Filter Change

Hi all, changed the 2 fuel filters today and just a quick question. I understand the BXs dont need a "loosen bleed valve" type of purge after doing filters. It seems to work great for me to cycle the pump (key turn only one position) for 30 or so seconds - then i shut if off, waited couple seconds then started tractor with no issue and fired right up. Ran very smooth and all is ok.

But, when did this procedure change? I thought before we had to open bleed valve located above front filter and wait for steady stream then close. These newer BXs i hear have some sort of return hose to tank that allows us to do it as i mentioned above.

School me guys..

Not really understanding your question.

Many BX tractors just need 30 seconds of lift pump to bleed the system.

Other series use a bleeder valve on the injection pump.

I think the modern common rail engines use other method(s), varying by series.

Just varies by age and engine type, to the best of my knowledge.

Not sure if all Bx's have the return line - but all the ones I have seen do. 30 to 60 of run time with the pump will get 99% of the air out of the lines.

I say 99% - I replaced my old filter type with new remote system and I followed the manual and did a 30 second and the engine started but ran poorly - did another 45 seconds and it got better and did a 3rd 30 seconds and it took all of that time to clear the air out of the lines.

have done it that way for years. Change filters, turn the key on and let it sit there and run the pump while I dump the fuel out of the pan that was lost during filter change. Minute or two later start it up and go. I've had a couple that I can remember that would run a little rough at first, but usually clear right up.

Since at least 2003 or 2004 when I purchased my BX22. Don't remember the exact year of purchase.

Yes, all of the BX series tractors have a return line and are bled by turning the key switch to the "RUN" position for 30 seconds, then started.:)

According to the manual....

After you install filters and fill tank

Turn key on for 30 seconds
Turn key OFF for 30 seconds
Turn key on, glow plugs if needed, THEN start it up....
