I did similar, except mine is in the side of the dash and not in the hood. I got mine from Amazon - Tecmate.

You will also need:

I have a pickup I do not drive much (2,000 miles a year.) I had the battery go dead a few times (Alarm, ecu-vehicles do not truly shut off 100% anymore) so I installed one these on t as well, in the bumper in a cavity. Battery is 100% every time now.
My tractor does not get as much use as I'd like, last year, just ten run time hours. Also, I do not have power where it is stored so... no ability to plug it in to a maintainer. I did install a voltmeter on it. Over the last year, the voltage has dropped to under 12 volts. 11.8 yesterday and I could noticably tell it was not a happy camper, it just started. It will not start once it gets cold. New battery in the next thirty days. The existing one is just three years old.
The battery maintainers are not expensive, if you don't use your tractor much, take the battery out and leave it hooked to the maintainer in the basement or someplace convenient, and then it will be ready to go when it is cold out. Most of the Kubotas look like they're easy to get out, unlike my old Ford 8n where the battery required a strap to lower it through a hatch in the hood.

Mine are both easy to remove bit I never do because being Group 31 heavy duty they are very heavy...

So Sheepfarmer, get your taters dug? I did, all in the garage under newspapers drying a bit. Next are the onions but tomorrow is cider day. I've plucked nearly a thousand pounds of apples off the trees so tomorrow is grind, press and bottle cider. Hoping for about 30 gallons, or whatever will fit in the deep freeze for later and a couple gallons for friends and the fridge.

About halfway dug, some lined out on newspaper in the basement should go out and do some more if it is not too muddy out. :D

My Kubota sometimes sits for a month or two with no starting at all, I run Battery Tender Jrs on just about every thing I have that is like that, 6v John Deere M, Kubota, ATV and generator as well as a couple of spare batteries I use for mobile needs.

They seem to do a good job overall and are not very expensive, I just replaced the battery in the Kubota after 8 years but the first 3 or so it was not on the tender.

My start and trolling motor batteries (all 4 are AGM) on my boat are always on a smart charger/maintainer unless it is on the water.

I do have one question. With the O-20 SAE socket, would you suggest I drill a hole on the exterior panel to allow for this socket to seat into by the battery?

Is there some place 'under the hood' you can wire up the tender connector ? It just seems 'wrong' to drill holes... and using the tender means you're NOT using the tractor for a few days,so opening and closing the hood isn't a real chore.
With my luck, I'd decide to mount on the left side THEN find out I have to drape the cable across the tractor to get to the power on the right side....

I just hang the pigtail cord out the side of the hood.
Where it closes.
