Is there such an animal as a 2 5/16” ball with a 3/4” shank? I bought a Titan Attachments draw bar to use with quick hitch and I would like to use it to move my 16” trailer around on occasion.

The trailer uses a 2 5/16” ball but the Titan only has 1 7/8 and 2” balls on it with 3/4 shanks. I know most 2 5/16” balls have 1” shanks due to the weight capacity but my use will be only moving the trailer short distances over flat ground.

I would rather not drill out the Titan to 1” for the larger ball. Anyone have any ideas?

Just yesterday I looked at an interchangeable ball set. It had 1 7/8 and 2 inch balls, and 3/4 thread size. There was a statement on the package that said there was no 2 5/16 ball because that size was illegal on a 3/4 inch shank.

Is this the one you have?

If you just bought it locally, maybe return it and get one with a receiver tube, and get a 3-ball insert.

Yes Bruce that is it. I bought it off amazon and was hoping to not have to take the hit on return shipping on a 36lb item. It’s my own fault for missing that the one ball was only 2” and not 2 5/16”.

Can you weld?
Weld on a 2" receiver to that model hitch and it will work much better! ;)

It’s only for use on my property so that’s not a concern. Got link for it?

You won't find them online, Drive to Walmart and buy it if available.
I would be surprised if they do have them as it would but Walmart in a heck of a liability suit if they do still sell them. ;)

Do you do any machining? Know someone who does?
Cut the larger shank off a 2 5/16" ball and drill & tap it for a 3/4" grade 8 bolt.

Love it! Big ball, little shank: Not safe on the road, bad idea, possibly no longer legal. But heck, WalMart sells them, LOL. Maybe they are trying to eliminate some of those who are on 'People of WalMart' featured on youtube?

I agree that welding a 2" receiver on there is the way to go. Not only solve your 2 5/16" ball dilemma, but make the thing more versatile. Any number of inserts can be made or purchased.

why can't you use the 1" shank, just place it in your drawbar. I use one all the time just unbolt when done.

I looked over those Google links and no such animal is shown. The dimensions would lead one to believe they are there, but the discussion says they are not available for 2 5/16 and the 3/4" shank.

Got to fabricate your own!

I have the same Titan setup. I removed the 1-7/8" ball and drilled out the hole to 1" and replaced with a 2-5/16". If you needed the 1-7/8", it could be swapped with the 2" with the 3/4" shank hole. You can also get a ball that has replaceable heads in the two smaller sizes. Drilling to 1" only took me about 10 minutes and it was solved.

Turns out I screwed up twice when I ordered it. First, not noticing it didn’t have a 2 5/16th ball and second, not realizing it won’t fit on my quick hitch. So back it goes.

Somewhere in a junk box I have a 2" ball with a 1/2" shank.
I think it was from a Sears lawn tractor that a neighbor used to move his trailers around.
