Default New math?

Just curious, but I joined OTT in November of 2018, but on my posts it says I'm a 3rd year apprentice.

Welcome to "Orange Math" where the time passes differently.... but you remain an 'apprentice' for a lot longer than in the traditional world.

BTW: Notice on the left under my name that I joined in 2016.... but only 2 years have passed.

Yep post count and nothing more... If it was truly a Knowledge based option, then there would be several still in the novice category many years later!
