    need bigger feet

I have an L3400 2WD with a loader. It has those narrow front rims that came with the 3-rib tires. I have installed the widest trailer tires that will fit, trying to get a bigger footprint so it's not so prone to sinking in soft ground with a loaded bucket. Will the rims from a 4WD.....or...

    clutch clatter?

    Does the L3400F have a dual-mass flywheel?

    clutch clatter?

I have an L3400F...the 2wd stick. When the transmission is up to temperature, and it's idling in neutral, there is a clattering sound from the vicinity of the clutch. The noise goes away when I depress the clutch pedal. It's not so noticable when the tractor is cold. Is this normal or do I...

    PTO noise

Transmission level is spot on, and only a couple years old. Just doing a little recon here.....I notice that my gear box (County Line by King Kutter) is sold only as a whole unit....no parts. There is no source for gears or bearings for this thing??

    Good idea....I'll try that. Thanx.

    PTO noise

I have an L3400F that I rountinely run with a 60" finish mower. Lately, with the PTO engaged and up to speed, there is a low growling noise from the area of the transmission....like a gear noise. It has a kind of vibrato character to it that's in time with the PTO driveshaft RPM. If I...

    L3400 crankcase vent

I think this may have happened last time, and I just didn't ask about it. When I pop the oil pan drain plugs, it drains reeeeaaal slow until I pull the dipstick. That tells me the crankcase is somehow not venting properly. It's just a hose from the rocker cover to a tee downstream of the air...

    L3400F dual mass flywheel?

    Thanks.....I'll check those out.

    L3400F dual mass flywheel?

Does my L3400 2WD (gear) have a dual-mass flywheel? I ask because there is a clatter at idle in neutral that goes quiet when I push the clutch in. Some of the diesel pickup forums talk about that symptom in connection with a DM flywheel when the springs get weak. Is this noise normal for my...

    bleed the hydraulics?

I have an L3400 gear drive with a loader. I just found that the molded hose on the suction side of the hydraulic pump is cracked open at the elbow. If the pump has been sucking air, do I need to bleed the high points on the loader to get the air out?

    L2900 Temp Gauge issues

Not to highjack the thread here, I just wondered about "Breeze's" last post. My L3400 temperature guage barely gets off the COLD peg when running under load. It registers, but not much. Do I understand that's typical for these engines with a healthy cooling system? I'm going to borrow a...

    hydraulic filter change

Yep, you were right. Lost a couple quarts. I believe I'd have designed that filter location a bit differently.

    hydraulic filter change

On my L3400 2WD, why does my owner's manual say to "quickly" spin the new filter into place? Is oil pouring out of the transmission the whole time the filter is loose/off? I have to disconnect hoses anyway...whoever installed the rear remote kit thoughtfully ran the hoses right over the head...

    front axle pivot greasing

Back to my no-zerk front axle pivot bearing...... If I replace the breather plug with a zerk, and pull the adjustment screw out of the front end while shooting it, will that work? (2006 L3400F 2wd)

    New member questions

Nope. Neither bearing shell was ever drilled for a zerk. My owner's manual shows a zerk on the front bearing and says to shoot it until grease comes out the breather plug. I did remove the plug and attempt to use a needle on a grease gun but it didn't go very far. I figured the shaft would...

    New member questions

I got a great deal on a 2006-ish L3400 2WD with 210 hours on it. I'm assuming all the preventative maintenance is due, so I'm having fun with that. The front axle pivot has no grease fitting. What's the best thing to do with that? Also, there's a lot of gear noise in 8th at road speed...
