As far as a complete axle swap your only options are b2150 and b20. Neither show up in salvage yards often. B8200 does share some parts but not axle as a whole. I do have a b20 here in northeast Alabama and can freight it to you.

Short answer is yes they can be. Long answer is its a very delicate system and most who try do not have long term success. I know a few who did and so far still working but know of many more who tried and either didn't work at all or failed again shortly after. Thats if you can even find parts...

1505 is a 4 cylinder. D stands for 3 cylinder V stands for 4. There are different versions of the d1105 depending on what it came out of could be anywhere from 24-28hp. Id imagine if you can find a 28hp d1105 you could swap it and be close

Sounds like your swash plate fell out in the hydrostat. Had another guy with a b2150 do same thing not long ago. Unfortunately hydrostat needs replaced. I do have a good one if you decide to do that.

The right side is in good usable shape. The left side the lense is good but the baxking to it is broken.

No major mods needed in your case it will bolt on and work. Consider yourself lucky to have found one in usable shape. Very hard to find a good one.

Hydrostat should provide all the braking you could need even going downhill. I live on a mountain and barely any flat ground and never use my brakes driving. Now i do heavily depend on them for parking brake. If you've adjusted them then im afraid a long job is in your future

Dealer will ask for your serial number. Ordering online no you don't but you should always check parts diagrams make sure there is not a serial number break when ordering parts. Kubota parts illustrated or Messicks have parts diagrams

20x8-10 will work fine. Most likely will be a hair taller than your current 20.5 turf tires. You could always swap to the skinny rims and run a 6-12 front and 9.5-16 rear ag tires as well but would require different rims
