As @North Idaho Wolfman said kubota uses their own hydrostats in tractors. But consider yourself lucky to be able to buy a new hydrostat for only $2k. Most old kubota hydrostat units are much higher than that

As long as its in neutral and brakes off its perfectly fine. Just remember with hydrostat steering you have little to no steering without hydraulic flow

Have you replaced air filter and made sure there is no blockage to the intake?

I agree with @North Idaho Wolfman kubota does a great job at diagrams and cab help you more than you would think. Pay attention to details i bet you can figure it out

Its tough. I deal with these numbers everyday and still struggle with some of them between rc and rck and where they put the dash etc.

Tractordata is great don't get me wrong but the information provided is not by kubota. Its a guy who created the site and there are some errors. The 60" is a rck but the 72" is an rc. Both are 27b though

Glad that was an easy fix. But @North Idaho Wolfman is right running in high gear at 1500 rpm while also mowing is putting serious strain on everything and asking for hydrostat problems. Run at pto speed especially when mowing. Thats what they are designed to do

Post a pic of your serial number so @North Idaho Wolfman can look it up. It wouldn't be a 1996 if its old style. Do the front rims have 4 lug nuts or 6? Serial number is also stamped in the tunnel by your foot

If you managed to break the pto cover but not the case your insanely lucky. Haven't seen one yet that didn't have damage to the transmission case as well. Ill also say this you have to tear down and get the chunks out for many reasons. The pieces will clog up filters and suction screen, will...
