    What's cookin' boys?

Making something kind of like beef burgundy…… Browned the beef and working on some veggies. No mushrooms because the Mrs.doesn’t like mushrooms. (I’ve used them and she picks them out…..honestly forgot to get any….😉) When veggies are sweated a little we’re going to deglaze the pan with some...

Mixing in leftover quarter-minus gravel into existing gravel driveway?

I agree with @Shawn T. W - use it up! I think I generally know what Quarter-minus is. Personally, I would first go over the driveway some with the scarifiers down on my box blade with a shorter top-link, but don’t want the front blade on the box to be digging in. Lay some QM down and repeat...

Help me Shift L3710 out of 4WD

Just my own opinion, but I wouldn’t be too worried about bleeding air from the hydraulic system. Pretty much takes care of itself. If it doesn’t, you have more issues than some air in the system….

    Fall Colors

Going to be pretty muted in our part of upstate New York. Been dry and hot here most of the summer. Was wet for a good part of the early part of the year. The Sugar Maples on our place have already lost quite a few of their leaves. Our peak Fall color is early October, and we’ve got lots of...

    P0606 error code…uh oh

Trust me, I’m not an electrical nor electronic expert….take with a grain of salt. I do recall some contexts where low battery voltage can cause some major issues with ECM/PCM/ECU. I think it traverses auto/truck/tractor. Best not to frig around with a bad/poorly charged battery……can cause...

    Heron?

Definitely a Great Blue Heron. GBH are effective predators and are protected by numerous state and federal wildlife regulations. Surprised it found your small pond, but it’s been pretty dry in the northeast. Sounds like the other guys have some good advice for keeping them out.

    What's cookin' boys?

You guys are so great with your meal presentations. 👍👍 I tend to show some pretty “rustic” stuff for a family style meal. That’s how we’ve rolled for many years. You guys are great.

Awesome dogs / Crazy pets Thread

Geddy tolerates it better than some of our other dogs. He's 90+ pounds, so it's good he's okay. We had a 150-pound monster that hated a tubby. Damned -near dislocated my shoulder 30 years ago......

First winter for new tractor owner...what do I need to know regarding fuel additives?

My neighbor has gelled up a couple times with his BX. I’ve had to blow snow at -8* F. We had a spell several years ago where you couldn’t find any diesel anti-gel anywhere. Store shelves were empty for month or more. We’re very rural.

First winter for new tractor owner...what do I need to know regarding fuel additives?

Not sure what kind of temperatures you see in the winter. Can get real cold here. I’ve seen diesel gelled at the pump of the fuel station. Friend was trying to fuel up his service truck for his HVAC business…. This is my regimen. Use it 12 months a year. It’s readily available. Others prefer...

Automotive Museum and Member Classics...What We Do For Fun.

My own fault I didn't get a picture  ......one of my colleagues was driving his 1963 Buick LeSabre for this morning's meeting. 2-door hardtop. Kind of a "champagne" color. Very nice original daily driver car he doesn't use much. Just getting it out to stretch it's legs last few days...

    What's cookin' boys?

Dan - that looks super. Like @BBFarmer, haven’t tried kimchi yet but it’s on my to-do list. Saw it recently at an Amish grocery and passed it up, guessing it wasn’t a good example of the product….😉

Dan - - appreciate correcting something I have done incorrectly. Obviously a laymen's explanation; not a technically correct explanation. Sorry for the mis-step. Still work for me.

    Hydraulic fluid

Is your tractor an HST, GST, or other variant? Can make a difference in answering your question. That said, we’ve all been “Penny-wise and Pound-foolish” at various times in our lives. I certainly have. Sometimes the risk doesn’t warrant the reward…..that’s something only you can evaluate...

    15W40 or 5W40

Absolutely. Multi-vis motor oil…..5”w” is the cold weight/viscosity. 40 is the hot viscosity.

    15W40 or 5W40

+1 with @lynnmor Been using T6 5w-40 for years. No block heater and use tractor for snowblower work. 5w makes for much easier cold starts.
