    R1's for R4's or Turfs

For the cost of buying, that sounds like it would be well worth the diesel to make it happen. Doc

    MX5200 pricing/accessories

Yeah, wonderful tractor!! I have an MX 5100 and wish I had gotten a third function up front. That is my next addition. That with a brush grapple. Your gonna love it. It is a BEAST. In fact, if I have advice, it would be to be careful until you get the feel for it. In actuality, it probably...

EA Wicked Grapple for the MX5800

Hey cowboy, How about a quick review of the grapple? Build quality, hook up and disconnect easy? Did they ship it free like they advertise? What about your experience with EA in general? Been looking at one of those, and wondering about dealing with them. Have heard some good and some not...

What is the clutch for on an HST tractor?

Mine won't start without the clutch, but that is about all I use it for. As long as the tractor is stopped, there is no difference in shifting between ranges. (MX 5100) Doc

    Kubota vs Bxpanded thumb

The B Xpanded looks like a quality product. Haven't used it but would probably try that if I were in the market. Doc

    BH creaking

Oranje, No, you just used it. Doesn't matter how many times as much as how long. At least every 10 hrs, grease her up!! She will out live you if you do!! Doc

    Fuel consumption

Yep, my MX 5100 seems to burn about 1.5 per hour. I am glad she is pre Tier 4, as I can run it about 1800 rpm all day. My 20 yr old L3010 seems to be about .6-.7 per hour at 2000 rpm, but it has about half the size engine as the MX. Doc

    Preparing a garden

Definitely a tiller. Don't worry about the HP, plenty. 40X80 will be childs play for a 4' tiller. I would even suggest that you double the size of your garden, and plant your rows far enough apart to work the crops with the tractor mounted tiller if you have the land. Makes it much nicer...

BXpanded Bucket Hooks vs. Welded Hooks

I don't have a picture of them directly, but you can see Bolt on Hooks on the loader; I really like my them. Have had no problem and have lifted a couple of pretty good loads. Don't see any need to have welded hooks. (I do have a pair welded onto my older Kubota and they have been fine as...

How to turn with a Roto tiller?

The tiller is chewing up the dirt. It doesnt care if one side is moving a bit faster than the other. Doesn't hurt anything to turn while you till but my OCD side really likes nice straight rows !! Doc

    Clutch on a Hydrostatic?

Yep, just to start and to change range. Heck, I very seldom ever touch the brakes either!! Doc

    New machine

My only advice would be to go ahead and spring for 4WD. I am sure you know from your other Kubota, but I will never buy another tractor that doesn't have 4WD. Doc

    Turbosaw to clean up trees

While I truly appreciate the thought, I don't have the time to do the "by hand" thing. Hoping this would be a force multiplier. :D Doc Oh yeah, edit to add; while every tractor implement can be extremely dangerous, this one truly looks like it could deal out some gruesome injuries if one...

    Turbosaw to clean up trees

Looking at cleaning up the old home place and saw one of these online. Called the Turbosaw; Wondering if anyone has any experience? Looks like I could clean up a bunch of the old sweetgum with this and a front end grapple. Supposed to cut right at the ground so no stump to clean up later...

    Removing Stumps

One idea I read and am going to try was to get big, aggressive blades for your sawz-all (like 12") and cut the roots down as deep as you can before you start digging. Then it will be easier to get everything loose. Doc

    Binder chain question

Well, first trip I had 4 grade 70 chains and 4 ratchet type load binders and 2 of the old type. I was able to use one 20' chain up front to secure both corners with loose chain in between, and the same on the back (basically the 20' chain is long enough to use it like 2 separate chains). I...
