My saulsbury steaks look a lot like Italian meatballs….
View attachment 65578
Browned them in the sauté pan. Also made a quick marinara. Had some leftover peppers and onions in the fridge. Threw them in also.

Will be good with a big chunk of Italian bread….

I think I mentioned my banana split tacos a couple weeks ago?

So this weekend, I'm going to make a Hot and Sour Soup taco...

I had to look that up too, looks delicious. Is that mug a Henry made in America or not made at all?
Yeppers, I put on a sporting clay shoot for the lodge and Henry was kind enough to send a couple of things my way to give away

Magic - - - that looks awesome!

Shrimps are cooked perfect.

In upstate New York we'd take new potatoes like that and boil them in strong salt water to make salt potatoes. Started near Syracuse at Hinderwadel's Clambake place. Dip them in butter, and yum....

Your version is much healthier.

What are the sausage/cheese balls?

It’s easy to call for pizza and wings.

Tonight we’re doing fresh tomato pizza and chicken tenders.

The prep cook just got done. Nothing is cooked yet.

Funny - made me think of childhood.

I went to a satellite school in my centralized school district through 6th grade. 25 kids per grade. Very rural and majority were farmers…mostly poor
dairy farmers. Didn’t realize we were poor then.

Grade 7, made the bus trip to the home district. Class went from 25 to 250!

I was first kid in district to get on the bus at 6AM.

My new Classmates had swimming pools, and attached garages on new houses….they even had garage door openers!!! They didn’t have to cut wood for heat….

Wow, talk about culture shock!

Not in Kansas anymore, Toto….

Somewhat similar for me. Grew up pretty rural, spent summers living with my grandparents on their farm as a kid. My graduating class had 21, less then 200 in the whole high school. We had to co-op with another school for golf, basketball, and baseball. Took 3 other schools for a football team 😂. And funny, the farmers were the rich ones in our area 😂

Funny thing is in a school that small you know everybody. My wife was a year ahead of me and we couldn’t stand each other in school. Fast forward a year and we both are working at the same restaurant in our little town. Now 17 years later, here we are 🤣.

My culture shock came later on when I left rural IL 😱

If it weren't for waitresses, I wouldn't have lasted as long as I did in the restaurant business.

My wife was a maid, then desk clerk at the first hotel I worked at. We met when we were both teenagers 40 years ago. 32 years later....

Did I mention waitresses!?!?! ;)

We were at the farm property since Wednesday, yup working/bushhoging and mowing but we still ate:
IMG_0869.JPG

Grilled port chop, rice/gravy, with a skillet of biscuits.

IMG_0885.JPG

And then she kinda fancied it up a bit with shrimp scampi, grilled taters, corn, peach slices with her home backed cookies all served out out the Pfaltzgraff table setting that we bought new in 1963.
IMG_0893.JPG

OK, the leftovers did OK too.

Dang - - guess we really “rough it” out at the farm?!?! 😀

I spent my first 22 years at the “farm property,” and never ate like that there.

Just poking fun…. That all looks great!

Keep seeing the biscuit pictures. Really like the looks of them - look tasty, and betting they taste better yet. I like biscuits.

As a teenager, I cooked a Sunday baked chicken buffet with all the fixings for $2.95 a head. Did it for years. Favorite stop for families after church. Literally fed hundreds of thousands of people just through that buffet.

My own house-made Buttermilk biscuits was a crowd favorite of it. Figured I’d done well over a million of them in my tenure. A batch was about 50-dozen as I recall. I cut every one by hand, and very quickly after some practice.

40-plus years later and I still can rattle off the recipe off the top of the head….
