Im still getting a few more quotes on a new tractor. One local dealer told me that as long as I was within 100 miles then he could fix any problems I might have under warranty. I hope to never have any major issues but....
I have around 8 to 10 dealers within 100 miles from where I live. My question is, do I have to use the dealer I buy from, for repair or can I choose what dealer works on it ?

Hi Mudball, I am totally new to this and have very little experience but when I bought my orange tractor in Marietta, GA I had service work done, no hassles in Cumming, GA. You might start by just asking your other dealers. There may be different responses from different parts/service operations.

Great suggestion. I will just start calling around and see what info I get from dealers. Im going to consider other brands as well considering how vague answers are when purchasing.

The warranty work can be done anywhere, but transportation of the tractor is not necessarily included. If a dealer is offering to fix on the road or pick up for warranty work it is a special part of the deal.

I wonder if this is something that can be in writing because its easy to say many things to make a sale.
In the past Ive read on here several times where if someone had an issue and their dealer was top notch fixed it, replaced something, or hauled it in for repair at no charge.
Im starting to understand the disadvantage of buying a used one that is still under warranty. I mean having to pay for transportation...I guess ?
Thanks for the response. I have more to learn.

Mr Mudball I might suggest one more thing and your comment above prompted my memory. You mentioned getting things in writing and how things might be said to make a sale. That writing thing works both ways. Document, for your records who, what, where, when and why. Talk with a pen and notepad in hand to write down as much info as possible, and not on a sticky note. Make a file folder or open office document etc.. If you are talking to them f2f, ask them to clarify if you hear something that sounds important for consideration down the road. Then when you are not f2f, then document that as well. Even that is no guarantee but if you have dates, who you talked to, which dealer told you what, then it could really make a difference. I certainly have fallen back on that with favorable results. Good luck.

If the dealer offers to pick up your tractor for service it needs to be written on the receipt as part of the contract and signed.

Other wise a salesman telling you something and later you counting on it being a fact, becomes a contest when the salesman is no longer with the company and confusion abounds. Guess who looses! Have it written down on their paperwork, where you and them have a copy.

Great advice.
I have submitted in writing and in detail my options etc...and this is why Im glad you mentioned what you did because it reminds how important this is.
Thanks

When I bought my little guy, the salesman promised/told me they would pickup or service on site, all warranty work. They did during the first year. Then my salesman retired and things at the dealer changed. No longer would they do any of that without charge. It was not in writing, it was a gentleman agreement. Not a big deal to me either. I do my own work and the parts guy lives near me, so if I need anything, we meet a mile or som from my home
So get it in writing that on site or pickup/delivery is part of the deal. Hopefully, you'll never need it.

Also, by US law all authorized dealers must honor warranty repairs, no matter who sold it. You might get better service from your selling dealer. Though any added incentive like on site or pick-up is dealer specific.

Transportation and/or on-site repair is not covered under kubota warranty (per the statement).....so if a dealer is offering that, get it in ink, look at all the fine print that goes along with it, and if you like it, go for it.

Any authorized kubota dealer can perform warranty repair. No kubota dealer can deny warranty repair based on purchase history. Part of the dealer agreement. But...they "can" put you to the back of the "line" if you didn't buy said equipment from them. That happens too often. Sometimes a warranty repair can come into a shop, owner didn't buy it there, and with an irate customer--that's almost a guaranteed wait. But on the flip side, look at it from the dealer's perspective. If someone buys a machine from that dealer, they're priority. Do I like it? Nope....hate it actually...treat everyone the same in my book. But one tech can only do so much in this world and most days I feel like it's not enough. Another reason I'm considering changing careers. Being a tech sucks-especially after 3 decades of it.

Very interesting perspective and thanks for sharing that.
