Just got all my filters for my 300hr service. Looking at the hyd. filters they show 3-5 spins after contact
are they really that tight ?
Sounds way too tight to me. I usually turn it 3/4 turn after contact of the gasket.Just got all my filters for my 300hr service. Looking at the hyd. filters they show 3-5 spins after contactare they really that tight ?
I read SwampCat's 3-5 spins to mean 3 to 5 spins, not 3/5 of a spin. Looked at one of my hydraulic filters on the M5140. Says +2/3. This is a gear tractor.Well 3/5 = .6 and 3/4 = .75
So that does not sound tight.
Hst is high pressure.

No, its printed right on the filters. Seeing as I am a Kubota virgin, just picked up a B7510 hsd last week with 298 hr. So I just got all the stuff to do the 300 hr. service. Put a lot of filters on in my years, just NEVER saw anything like this, so I figured come straight to the KNOWLEDGE base. Dont have a WSM yet so just going by what it said on the filter. As it stands 3/5th of a turn gets em pretty tight, theres NO WAY IN HEAVEN to get 3 turns on a filter. It must be a typo in the manual.
Or there are realy fine threads on the nipple.
3 turns on a filter? 5?
My manual states 1/2 turn on hst and engine oil.
So I would go just over 1/2 or 3/5.
And rin it and check for leaks.

Stubbyie - that is so true.Every hydraulic filter I've encountered upon first removal has apparently been installed at factory both dry and too tight.
