    BX exhaust extension

I know this has been discussed before, but I am looking for ideas for an exhaust pipe extension for my BX. I'm tired of the black soot all over my loader and my grille guard. Of course it has to be removable to get the engine side covers off, and I don't want anything that is too easy to snag...

    My two latest attachment buys.

Some of you may remember that late last summer, i bought a 4' John Deere reverse tine tiller made for a large JD garden tractor and modified it to work on my BX. Over the winter, I took it apart, made a couple more minor modifications and gave it a fresh coat of paint and new decals. Total cost...

    BX tiller on the cheap!

Ever since I got my BX, I have wanted a tiller, but the cost has been an impediment. Used four footers are EXTEMELY rare in my area, and even a new King Cutter is more than I wanted to invest, and what I REALLY wanted was a reverse tine unit, which meant springing for the $1800+ Land Pride...

    BX tiller question

I have a chance to get one of these John Deere tillers for a good price. It would take some work to adapt it to the BX, but maybe worth the effort?......

My take on BX tie down hooks

After viewing a couple of different ideas here and elsewhere, I came up with this super simple solution. Took about 45 minutes to make all four, and no welding. The front hooks required installing slightly longer bolts, but I was able to re-use the rear bolts.

My latest shop project-trailer to haul the BX

After searching for about six months and not finding anything at a price I was willing to pay, I decided to build my own utility trailer. My requirements were: 1) Big enough to haul BX with loader and attachment, 2) small enough to tow with a S10 pickup, 3) Tilt deck so I don't have to use...

    BX front tire pressure

I have the front tires on my BX2230 set to the standard 22 PSI, but notice the front tires are pretty squirrelly with a fully loaded bucket. Is there any harm in increasing the front tire pressure a few pounds to make the tractor more stable while using the bucket?

    Replacement BX seat

Has anybody tried to put one of these seats on a BX? This is a Rural King model, but Tractor Supply sells a similar one. The original seat on my 2230 might be the biggest hunk of junk in the history of tractors seats. Uncomfortable, unsafe AND cheaply built. :(

    Loading tires

I finally started the process of loading my back tires tonight (RV antifreeze). Somehwere I found a chart that said they would hold about 8 1/2 gallons each, and planned accordingly. Imagine my surprise when it took around 12 gallons to fill the first tire. Now I have to scrounge up more...

Safety locks for front end loader

After going back and forth on a couple of different designs, I came up with these, which came in REALLY handy when I was working under the loader setting up my digital tachometer. I took some 1 1/4" ID galvanized pipe, ripped in lengthwise and then added nuts to bolt the two halves together and...

    BX bucket extension

Since the weather has been so crappy, I have been concentrating on shop projects. Here is my latest, a bucket extension for the BX. It installs with 2 3/8" bolts and takes about one minute. No disrespect to BXpanded, but theirs is $339 plus shipping. My cost $22 and took a Saturday afternoon...

    New wheel spacers

I just scored a set of 2" aluminum wheel spacers on eBay for substantially less than the going price, and installed them last night. I haven't had a chance to use the tractor yet, but visually, I can't believe the difeerence it makes in the back of the tractor. It makes the whole tractor look...

    My new gauges

As I mentioned in an earlier thread, I was looking for ways to add an oil pressure gauge and voltmeter to my BX, and struggled to come up with a solution. I FINALLY settled on these gauge pods and mounted them on the sides of the instrument panel. FAR from ideal, but they work well, and are...

    Looking for some ideas

I use my BX with the loader around the yard constantly as a motorized wheelbarrow so to speak. The one problem I have is that I am always trying to carry a shovel and rake around with me. If I hang onto them, they get in way, and if I stand them on end, I have had them smacked out of my hands...

    lawn sprayer

Here is my old lawn sprayer unit adapted to fit the three point on the BX. In case you are wondering why it is mounted lengthwise instead of crossways, it's because in it's past life it was on an application where it had to be mounted that way, and I wanted to reuse as much as possible. The...

    Electrical upgrades

Pic 1 shows the fuse and relay panel I added to power up my new lighting and power outlet additions. Pic 2 shows the spot lights I added to the ROPS. These are about 50 times more effective than the factory headlights. In fact, i hardly ever even turn the headlights on now. Pic 3 shows my...

    A couple of new modifications

Pic 1 shows where I added a bracket similar to the bucket level indicator and wrapped my log chain around around it. You NEVER know when you will need a chain! Pic 2 shows my modification to use the 10LB excercise weights I have for more downforce on the grader blade. handy for scraping up...

    New rear hitch and more!

Picture 1 shows my new trailer hitch setup with an optional 80 LBS of counterweight added. My buddy gave me the weights, which are from sort of exercise machine. It also has a six way plug that when plugged into a jumper harness with a flasher relay to my power port on the back of the tractor...

    My snow removal "team"

Here's how I'm fighting the snow these days; BX2230 with loader and blade, Grasshopper 618 w/ model 412 blower. Makes short work of the job most days.:)
