Mower has 500hrs and has been running hot since middle of last year during cutting season, but babied it until I could get time to troubleshoot. Recently I changed out the transmission fluid & filters, oil and oil filter, both air filters, and drained and installed new radiator fluid. Mowed for about 45 mins and gauge started to go towards red line, stopped and lifted cover and heard fluid boiling. Let everything cool off and two hours later tried mowing again, only got about 30 mins in before the gauge went towards the red again. How would I know if the thermostatic is the cause? Can flush and readd fluid, but did this last year and nothing has changed. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you checked to make sure the radiator has plenty of air flow and no grass clippings are clogging it up? Also take a peek at the air filter and see if it needs to be cleaned or replaced.

Is there the small screen in front of the radiator like there is on the tractors? I would definitely check and see if there is some sort of blockage keeping the fan from drawing in airflow through the radiator.

Also, check your belts and make sure they have proper tension on them.

I would look hard at the radiator like the others said. It may look clean but Kubota doesn't leave much room for error. Just a small amount of trash will cause it to run hot.

Mine Did Same. Take A leaf blower And Blow air through radiator. If this does not work. start up again using same bower and blow air across radiator to cool. If this still over heats try replacing stat. cheap enough

Will try the leaf blower, have tried all the other items (sharpened blades, tightened belt, changed fluid and cleaned air screen in front of radiator and checked intake to engine). If that doesn't work, then I'll look at replacing the thermostat... will let everyone know what the fix is. Thanks.

Even though the screen is clean, doesn't mean there isn't crud in the radiator vents. That dust and debris are sneaky. Hopefully you get it figured out.
