Hello and welcome, there's a few of us on here that have L260's and everyone has been helpful. Mine is a 1974 its #L240-16284. As I understand it the ones for import are L260 but the serial # starts the same L240 but the writing on the tractor is in english. I bought an owner's manual on line, it was a copy but I use it more than the IT shop manual that is a K-201 that covers a lot on models. Both are very helpful.TractorData.com lists them as 1970-1976. Course if you think its to old or small I could help you get rid of it!

There are some threads on here to look up, l260 3 point, Clutch won't disengage from flywheel, How I fixed a runaway L 260 engine, two engine speed questions, L260 Questions and Bringing a Old L260 Back to Life. Hope that helps, some guys know how to highlight them so you can just click on them thats easier than what I gave you.

So is ours with the l240 serial numbers a grey tractor? Thanks for all your help.
As some of the others like Bill say the L260 was built for our market, but the serial numbers still say L240. I believe the ones with L240 on the hood have Japanese writing on the tractor but the ones with L260 on the hood have writing in english but is comparable to the L240.

it was really common for them to use the same castings and serial # starting on several models, such as yours L260, L240-XXXXX, the B7100 did the same thing Serial # B7001-XXXXX.
And like David said if the writing on the hood and maybe several other locations are in english then it's a L260. :D
