OK guys I need to find a FREE word program. Micro want a 100 bucks a year and for all the stuff I type up that would be in word, thats about 100 bucks wasted. So I know some place there is a FREE word processor in cyber land I can use on this Win 10 puter.

Skeets - I'm no techy guy, but we've used free OpenOffice for a while now. The version I have works in 10.

To make it usable for folks with Office Word, you need to save the documents in a .doc format. Also has an excel-type thing.

I'll vote for open office too ! Free - does 98% of what OFFICE does.....but did I say it was free!!!!

Has always worked for us, but I'm not computer-literate much.

My SU Orangemen (Alma Mater via SUNY ESF) didn't make the NCAA, but we're a 1 seed in the NIT....

You can set Open Office up to automatically save as ms word, excel and pp.

OpenOffice was great, but development has ground to a halt due to politics. LibreOffice is based on the original OpenOffice, currently maintained and seems to be the best offering at present:

My vote is for Google Docs. It is free, and you can access on multiple platforms (conputer, phone, etc)

Google docs is ok - if you don't mind Google having access to your stuff. I'm with torch, Libreoffice.

Is there not an option anymore for a one-time purchase? I know they want everyone to go to the cloud based stuff so that they can get the yearly fee but I thought there was still one-time purchase options, at least there was recently when I bought a new computer.

OpenOffice was the prime free package, but LibreOffice has taken over the development and is the most current (best) version of a free Office package. You get word processor, spreadsheet, presentation package and more.
Anything "Google" has tracking software in it, watching what you do all the time....

Yes, you can still purchase a copy of Word and Excel and Publisher and own it outright, with a key.
