The Mrs. made no-knead salami bread. Really good! Better than it sounds. Could be made a bunch of other ways.

I could see that with garlic, basil, etc. as as crust for an awesome focaccia.

would you do anything different the 2nd time
next time I will prep the meats/filling the day before and at least double the masa, maybe triple.

I wanted to make some with a bean and cheese filling and a chicken filling too.

With all of the Mardi Gras activity going on we finally decided to make a King Cake. Yup the colors are Green, Gold, and Purple. Instead of the traditional King Cake, we chose to make muffin size. Well, she bought the large instead of the small crescent rolls so they were too large to fit into the muffin pan. They ended up about the size of "honey buns".
DSCN1903.JPG

She flattened the crescent rolls out, coated them with a cinnamon/sugar mixture and added the cream cheese filling. She then rolled them up and made a sorta pinwheel.
DSCN1904.JPG

They were supposed to go in a muffin pan, but they went on a cookie sheet instead.
DSCN1905.JPG

They looked good enough to eat when they came out of the oven, but they got icing instead.
DSCN1907.JPG

First they got a glaze, and then the colored sugar for the traditional King Cake look.
DSCN1908.JPG

It looked good enough to eat.
DSCN1910.JPG

And was.

Two tubes of Crescent Rolls, 1/3 C. Sugar, 1 tbl sp ground cinnamon. The sugar/cinnamon mixture is spread on the flattened Crescent Rolls.

Filling: 1 block of Cream Cheese, ½ C Sugar, 1 tsp. Vanilla.

Glaze: 1 C. Powdered Sugar, 1 tbl sp Lemon Juice, 1 tbl sp Water.

Sounds tasty! I haven't made a Crescent roll recipe in ages, nor ever eaten King cake, but this would be great comfort food for snowy weather. Too bad I already made my pre blizzard grocery store run! Have everything but Crescent rolls.

This can of Vienna Sausage was one wiener short. 😲

After Magicman uncovered what could be the "Vienna Sausage Scandal of 2022", I've decided to expand my investigation.....

I've "investigated" 2 or 3 cans per week. Different brands, different stores. No one can predict where I'll be looking and sampling……but it will be within 10 miles of my house. Stealth is still important.

This one checks out. I may check another from the “evidence locker” during the Syracuse basketball game…

Oh, don't tell my wife....this is very confidential among us and everyone else on the interwebs.....

Hah! I've been doing a little research myself. I've picked up a few different brands also. Starting with the cheapest. (I haven't found Libby's yet). That's yellow grits with salt and butter.

I am curious because the Libby's can had 7 sausages with a hole in the center. Your can also had 7 sausages. The libby's can was the same size as the others....I thought. ??

Thanks PoTreeBoy- - means the investigation is expanding west….will be nationwide (doubtful California will participate) before we know it…..got north and south covered. 🤓

Magic- let us know when 60 Minutes calls. I’m betting it will be 2nd quarter of 2022….

Mike Wallace might come back for this one….

Syracuse is loosing, so my fact-finding ended for today….🙁

The VSS (Vienna Sausage Scandal) investigation continues.

Date 2022-02-04....2124 EST hours.

All checks out.

I'll keep looking... ;)

Kind of like finding a 4 leaf clover.

I'm having fun with this….

Did I say I love Vienna Sausages? 😁
