We have about 4 lbs of leftover brisket. So there is brisket tacos for tomorrow and brisket nachos for the 4th!

authentic Mexican places in Ohio
lol, I'm only a few hours from the border and I travel a lot. Let's just say we don't eat Mexican food outside of Texas anymore.

IIRC, we tried a Mexican restaurant in Dayton when I was doing some training at WP AFB, the faitas were baked in an oven -- gross!

I get your point. The places we go to are first generation Mexican, not any of the chains, but yeah, nothing like the real thing. I was last in Mexico when I was 8 and if I remember we didn’t get to eat or drink anything. Need to go back but for now, I will take solace in my Americanized interpretation of what I thing it should be!! Time for some smoked tongue and eggs for breakfast

Yes sir, 95% of the Mexican restaurants are more of a Tex-Mex food, even here.

Perhaps just a pauper's meal but brings back so many memories of childhood. Kishka (Kyshka) - blood sausage. Did not get it often but, man, did I love this. I bought 2. One for mom and she was delighted, The other will be two meals for me. Packed with carbs and calories but worth every fork full. Still looks like heck and my adult children hate the smell. Perhaps they are too modern and a tad spoiled.

This time of year we have a lot of garden meals. This one tonight consisted of fresh sweet corn, squash and potatoes, cucumbers and some sweet cherry tomatoes thrown in. Tomorrow I will make up for the lack of meat and plan to grill some peppers and onions, with a few brats and a couple of nice IPA’s to chase it all down.

It is not a common sausage.
barley, buck wheat, pork snouts, liver and kidneys. Modern version has beef blood. Old school has pork blood. The casing is as black as night. When split open the filling is a black mix of ingredients. A rather strong taste.
