Servicing the tractor today and notice this little valve on the air filter housing is ripped. What is this called so I can order a new one?

Also, if anyone can point me to a writeup on changing the hydraulic oil and the front axel oil on a bx2230 i'd appreciate it.

That is a dust ejector or dust expeller.
its not for dust its for allowing water out of the system while you are running the tractor in the rain and to prevent rodents from crawling into the air intake while not in usem

Oh, you think so! Remove it every once in awhile and see what comes out.

Wondering if you also check the air filter for pinholes each time you blow it out, using a light inside it. Is your setup a double filter element (inner and outer)?

Interested because I worked for an logging operation where engines were exposed to sand and pumice dust. The rule was only to remove only the outer element when the restriction indicator said to, gently blow it out from the inside, check for pinholes using a light, in a dark place, and replace it. I can't remember what the rule was for replacing the inner filter, but they were never cleaned or blown out. I guess dust from cutting operations isn't as damaging as other sorts.

No, I do not check for pin holes.
I just blow it out gently with air.

I'm not in an extremely dusty environment... stock filter is all I run.

However I have seen an aftermarket inner/outer filter available.

AC device is intended to allow operator to squeeze it open to allow larger bits of debris to be removed from the cannister.

Instructions for changing oil in front axle should be in Operator's Manual. If not, will be in WSM.
