Anyone know what this thing is and what it does? It's on my L2050 2wd stick shift. I do not have my owner's manual yet and I have not taken it apart to investigate yet either. Thanks.

Thats exactly what it looks like but when you turn key on (TO LEFT) to warm them they will not glow until dark. takes about 45 seconds I always let mine click 3-4 times .handy
Glow plug indicator and if your flexiable enough a cigeratte lighter if you happen to smoke LOL. It works I've done it a time or two on mine.
So if I hold the key on glow-plug-heat-up long enough it should glow? I never noticed. But I have never started the tractor in the dark either.
It has to be dark for mine to see glow or if you smoke do as eric said or as someone else said put a drop of oil on it and you will smell it

Sometimes I'll cup my hand over the dot and put a little shade on it and you'll see it then get bright. Alot like the wires on a toaster they glow pretty bright.
I learned something today. I just thought that was a broken switch on my L175. I'll have to see if it glows next time I start the tractor. I know the glow plugs work.
